US, Israel strike Iran in Operation Epic Fury

By THE CENTER SQUARE

Feb. 28, 2026 – Massive strikes by the United States against Iran in Operation Epic Fury started overnight, with allied support from Israel.

Second-term Republican President Donald Trump addressed the nation and the Iranian people shortly after the strikes began. He told the Iranian people the “hour of your freedom is at hand. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take.”

Trump instructed the Iranian people to “stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home.”

The president underscored that the objective of the mission is to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

“Iran is the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terror,” said the president.

In response to the large, coordinated attack, Iran has been carrying out strikes against several American military bases in the region, including striking the U.S. Fifth Fleet Naval headquarters in Bahrain, according to multiple reports.

In his address, the president warned there could be American casualties. He said his administration “has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region.”

“I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill the lives of courageous American heroes,” Trump said. “We may have causalities, that often happens in war, but we’re doing this, not for now, we’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission. We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear armed Iran.”

The president warned members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the Iranian police to “lay down” their weapons. If not, he said, they would “face certain death.”

This is the second strike against the Islamic State in less than a year. In June, the U.S. carried out Operation Midnight Hammer, targeting Iran’s nuclear sites.

    1. So Jefferson ……you support state sponsored terrorism by Iran, and the risk of mullahs with nukes in hand?
      Sad!

      1. No, I do not support state sponsored terrorism by Iran. Nor do I have love for the repressive theocratic government of Iran. Nor do I seek endless foreign monsters to slay.
        .
You see, unlike you, I am able to think beyond simplistic binary options, and reject the false dichotomies of black-or-white ‘thinking’.
        .
I also reject the perverse and decades-long zionist control of US foreign policy.

        1. Then you believe in conspiracies too? You are back in the Henry Kissinger days, where the zionists had literal control. We are way past that, Jeff. Iran and it’s outreach into terror cells all over the world, has cost the US hundred of billions, if not trillions$$$ in security interests alone. Why would you not want Trump to go in and take care of business. And please explain why Obama dumped $$ half a billion in cash into Iran.

          1. Rick, the 72 virgins lose too, because the mullahs, Ayatollahs, and Khomeinees can’t find their little p*ckers anymore. Trump hacked them off with Tomahawks.

      1. LOL.
        .
According to Steve-O, ANY opposition to the policies of the state of Israel, or to the perverse one-sided (read: parasitical) relationship between the US and Israeli governments, is automatically and always “antisemitism”. How egregiously neocon of you.
        .
Face it, Steve: the anti-American foreign policy that treats Israel as a part of the USA, if not actually puts the interests of Israel ABOVE those of this country, is being increasingly acknowledged, and rejected, by honest, sensible and non-traitorous Americans. As well it should be.
        .
Let the ‘Chosen People’ fight their own damned wars already!

        1. Jeff,
Not once have I ever said what you’ve just claimed, you simply are incapable of making a reasoned argument to support your hate. The fact that you do not know what antisemitism is while you repeatedly spout it is very telling, even after all the times you’ve been instructed about what it is and how you are presenting it for all to see. Frankly it’s beyond sad.

          1. Steve, the completely irrational and foaming-at-the-mouth hysteria that you automatically jump into anytime that anyone, like myself, calls out the reality of the pernicious and destructive relationship between the governments of the USA and Israel, and the bizarre hold that the latter has over US foreign policy, is beyond belief and beyond contempt. You are truly unhinged.
            .
ALL you have in your quiver is the wild and scattershot slinging of ad hominem buzzwords and phrases, most of all your stock fallback of “antisemitism”, that mean exactly nothing and have zero relevance to the conversations here, or to anything that I have ever expressed or stated here (or on MRAK formerly). You have never been able to supply any examples of the supposed “antisemitism” which you claim that I demonstrate, but which only exists in your own muddled and fevered mind. But that never stops you from launching your empty ad hominems anyway.
            .
You are simply a cowardly bully who attempts to browbeat those who justifiably oppose you into submission under the suffocating weight of your fallacious claims and egregious dishonesty. Well, Steve, I was not willing to submit to bullies in grade school, and I sure as Hell am not going to do so here. I wish you could realize how pathetic of a laughingstock you make of yourself when you flail in desperation to defend the interests of your beloved zionist state OVER the interests of the USA. JUST as you made a laughingstock of yourself, and discredited yourself utterly, with your spittle-flecked rants against all those on MRAK who opposed the Covidian control agenda in 2020-2021, and who called out the dangers of the then-unproven (now proven unsafe) and experimental Covid clot shot, which you defended at interminable length here. Oh yes, that little episode is not forgotten.

          2. Excellent display of attempted gaslighting there Jeff…the question is do you really believe what you wrote?

  1. Iran is far from any domestic threat. It is the same line every time> “taking precise and definitive action now will avoid another series of forever wars”. What a bunch of baloney.

My whole life we have been bombing other people and killing many innocents. And for what? Empire? We had so many things to do for our country (how about raising that replacement rate above 1.6 and creating conditions for thriving families) (how about all illegals must go)(how about re-industrializing and creating jobs ) and we have pissed it away for foreign adventures. I am filled with disgust. People who support this travesty, we are not the same. I do not want to be in a coalition with you types. You are not serious about saving our country and our culture. You are a stab in the back.

    1. “……. People who support this travesty, we are not the same. I do not want to be in a coalition with you types……..”

Back at ya’. A relative is married to a woman whose family have been refugees in the U.S. for half a century. If you feel oppressed, maybe you should leave as a refugee? There are a few liberals who have fled to Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, and elsewhere. Maybe they’re happy? Have you looked into that? After the American Revolution, many Tories fled to Canada.

      1. Reggie, it is you who are the Tory in this picture.
        .
Real, patriotic Americans, of all stripes, condemn this needless and outrageous warmongering act by Trump and the Washington neocon establishment at the behest of their zionist overlords. Maybe it is you who should emigrate, to the ‘promised land’ of those who control US foreign policy.
        .
My disgust for this war of aggression, and for those who blindly support it, knows no bounds.

        1. “…….Maybe it is you who should emigrate……..”

I did. I’m a political and cultural refugee from a family of political and cultural refugees going back a confirmed and documented 300 years, which began with intercontinental enslavement. We were quite literally dragged here kicking and screaming. During the past 300 years we’ve been running all over the North American continent from oppression. I’m the first of my family to arrive here in Alaska over a half century ago, followed by several others, when Alaska was pretty much a land of indigenous peoples and federal management with an infant state government, and I became a federal asset. Yes, I’m a Tory. I guess you’re going to try to get me to packing back to another land, and my bet is that you’re going to fail. You are free to prove otherwise. Start your revolution.

        2. Jeff,
Not everyone blindly supports this action many are informed and support it because, unlike you, they are not blinded by their hatred.

          1. Steve-O, I not only expected you to chime in here expressing your dual(at best)-loyalty to Israel, but with your eternal specious equation of opposition to needless warmongering and the one-sided relationship between the Israeli and US governments as “hatred”. The only frayed card that you forget to play was the “antisemitism” one. But I am sure that you will remedy that here shortly.

          2. More antisemitic tropes.

            Same as always.

If you don’t want your antisemitism called out, then stop making blatant antisemtic comments.

          3. Steve-Oh, I am fully convinced that you either have no idea what the word “antisemitism” actually means, or else you do not have a single honest bone in your body.
            .
PS: Criticizing Israeli government policy is NOT “antisemitism”, no matter how many times you speciously and disingenuously say that it is.

          4. Jeff,
When you stop posting obvious and well known antisemitic tropes and actually start criticizing the government of Israel that will be the first time you’ve done so. It’s really not hard to do, see the comment Micah made…notice how it looks nothing like the nonsense you’ve posted? Maybe wipe the hatred from your eyes and read it again.

      2. “………. There are a few liberals who have fled to Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, and elsewhere……….”

WhoopsI I typed too fast! Apparently, your refugee options are being reduced as you weep:

“……Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued statements on Saturday morning supporting United States and Israeli military operations against Iran……….”

          1. “………Starting WWIII is one of them……….”
You’re way late, Evan. Putin started WWIII four years ago. After years of pleading and offering exit ramps with him, even right here on Alaskan soil, Trump has figured it out and is taking out the evil alliance. Russia’s allies in Syria and Venezuela are no more, the Ayatollah and most of his fellow Iranian leadership is no more, Cuba is soon to be free, Ukraine has successfully repelled the Russians and is destroying their oil industry (to Alaska’s benefit), and instilling caution in Chinese and North Korean leadership. Southwest Asia remains a dangerous place (Pakistan, Afghanistan, India), but with divine blessings, we all might avoid nuclear warfare. If Iran had gained nuclear weapons, that possibility would have been much more doubtful.

          2. Evan,
Your empty-headed comments are better spent over at Dermutt Cole’s blog ….snorting from. Alaska.

          3. Screw WW3. Trump has just made sure that Iran will be fighting WW4 with sticks and stones. My grandma would enlist for that fight.

      3. My family has been in this country for generations and bled for her. Maybe you should return to wherever you come from.

        1. Where do you think I came from Micah? What’s your real name? Tell me and then I can break my ankles as I jump to conclusions about your heritage.

    2. Micah,
Thanks for not resorting to antisemitic rants to share your opinion on your disagreement with America’s actions. I tend to think that the Iranian regime is/was a domestic threat, as they’ve resorted to terrorism across the globe and have said that they would do so here. Considering the fact that the Iranian regime called the US the Great Satan and has repeatedly called for our destruction, all while endlessly trying to build nuclear weapons, it isn’t too hard to imagine sleeper cells sneaking into in this country through the formerly wide open borders. If they had enough nuclear material to create a dirty bomb, well that wouldn’t be too hard to imagine or consider a domestic threat would it?

      1. You would have quoted my antisemitic rants if there were any, but instead you resorted to name calling. Like a leftist. Because scratch a bit and that is what you are.

You seem to support certain foreign countries. Maybe you should move there?

        1. Read what I wrote Micah, read what I wrote. I thanked you for NOT making antisemitic remarks…how could I have quoted them if you did not make them? I haven’t called you or anyone else names, but I have pointed out comments by others that are clearly antisemitic. I support a lot of other countries for a lot of reasons, some I support in part because it makes the US stronger to support other countries…the saying a rising tide lifts all boats comes to mind. Which countries that I support do you think I should move to? Argentina, Japan, New Zealand, Iceland, Mexico, South Africa, Luxembourg?
