April 26, 2026 – New details are emerging about the suspected gunman who triggered a security scare at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, where President Donald Trump and top administration officials had gathered Saturday night.
Police have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cole Allen, a Southern California teacher and video game developer, who allegedly posted a series of increasingly hostile political messages in the days leading up to the incident. Allen used the handle “coldforce” on the left-leaning social media platform Bluesky, where he sharply criticized Trump and broader political institutions. BlueSky is where Democrats and journalists converse on social media.
In one post, attributed to Allen about a week before the dinner, he wrote that the president “should be immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes,” while accusing Trump of “personally looting the treasury.”
In another, Allen reposted another message exchange involving Gizmodo reporter Matt Novak and CNN’s Jake Tapper, mocking journalists attending the dinner, deriding their “Freedom of the Press” pocket squares as “a white flag that no one can read unless you pull it out and wave it in defeat.”
Allen’s account on Bluesky was suspended early Sunday morning, and the posts have since been removed. He also maintained a presence on YouTube and Twitch, where he posted gaming content, primarily focused on Super Smash Bros., and listed his location as Southern California. His account on X, where he used the handle “@CForce3000,” has also been taken down.
According to law enforcement officials, Allen arrived at the Washington Hilton—the venue hosting the dinner—armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. He allegedly charged a security checkpoint, prompting an exchange of gunfire with officers. He was subdued and taken into custody. No fatalities among attendees have been reported, though the incident caused widespread panic inside the packed ballroom, which hosts thousands each year.
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were quickly escorted from the venue by Secret Service agents. In remarks later at the White House, Trump described the suspect as a “lone wolf” and credited “very brave members of Secret Service” with preventing a potentially catastrophic outcome. He said the dinner would be rescheduled.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said investigators believe Allen may have been targeting “administration officials,” citing his online writings. However, authorities have not confirmed whether Trump himself was the intended target.
In the 10 days leading up to the attack, Allen reposted content calling to “abolish ICE,” referred to a South Texas immigration facility as a “concentration camp,” and repeatedly attacked Trump ally Elon Musk, referring to him as a “Nazi” in multiple posts. He also shared imagery from an anti-war protest held at the U.S. Capitol complex.
Federal officials say the investigation remains ongoing, including efforts to determine whether Allen acted entirely alone or had any outside influence.
The incident marks the latest in a series of threats against Trump. During the 2024 campaign cycle, Trump survived two separate assassination attempts—one at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman’s shot grazed his ear, and another at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where an armed suspect was discovered hiding near the course.
Security protocols at high-profile Washington events are now expected to face renewed scrutiny following Saturday night’s breach.

It was good to see President Trump and the media getting along at the beginning of the event. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the next month and at the rescheduled dinner. God Bless Trump, his team and most importantly, those who protect all of us.
