Real Sen. Dan Sullivan picks up valued endorsement from national veterans group

July 9, 2026 – Concerned Veterans for America Action has endorsed US Sen. Dan Sullivan for re-election, adding another national conservative organization’s support behind the Alaska Republican as the 2026 Senate campaign intensifies.

The endorsement, announced Thursday, comes just days after a related major conservative advocacy organization, Americans for Prosperity Action, also backed Sullivan and launched a six-figure advertising campaign in Alaska, signaling growing support for the incumbent ahead of the Aug. 18 primary and November general election.

In announcing the endorsement, Concerned Veterans for America Action highlighted Sullivan’s military service as a Marine Corps Reserve colonel and his work on veterans’ issues, national security, energy policy, and federal regulatory reform.

“As a Marine Corps veteran representing one of the nation’s largest veteran populations, Sen. Sullivan understands firsthand the sacrifices of those who serve and has been a steadfast advocate for Alaska’s veterans in Washington,” said John Byrnes, senior advisor to Concerned Veterans for America Action.

Byrnes also cited Sullivan’s support for expanding domestic energy production, reducing federal regulations, and lowering costs for Alaska families.

The organization pointed to several pieces of legislation Sullivan has championed, including the Veterans’ ACCESS Act, which seeks to improve veterans’ access to community care; the Veteran Health Care Freedom Act, which would establish a pilot program allowing veterans greater flexibility in choosing between Department of Veterans Affairs facilities and community providers; and the Restore VA Accountability Act, aimed at strengthening accountability within the VA while preserving due process protections and whistleblower safeguards.

CVA Action also praised Sullivan’s sponsorship of the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, intended to reduce the frequency of federal government shutdowns, and the REINS Act, which would require congressional approval before major federal regulations could take effect.

The endorsement is more than symbolic. Concerned Veterans for America Action said it will launch a statewide advocacy effort in Alaska that includes grassroots organizing, digital advertising across streaming and connected television platforms, and direct mail.

The announcement adds to a growing list of national organizations investing in Sullivan’s re-election campaign as the race for Alaska’s U.S. Senate seat gains momentum.

Sullivan faces multiple challengers in the Aug. 18 primary, including Democrat Mary Peltola, with early voting scheduled to begin later this month.

Concerned Veterans for America Action said its campaign is independent and “not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.”
