March 13, 2026 – A new poll released by Heritage Action suggests that a broad majority of Alaska voters oppose allowing non-citizens to participate in elections and support stricter safeguards to ensure that only citizens are registered to vote.
According to the survey, roughly 77% of Alaskans oppose allowing non-citizens to vote in elections, including large majorities across political affiliations. The polling found that 83% of Republicans, 73% of non-aligned independents, and 74% of Democrats say non-citizens should not be permitted to vote.
The results also show substantial support for additional verification requirements during voter registration. About 69% of respondents support requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote, including 89% of Republicans, 61% of independents, and even 48% of Democrats.
Another proposal tested in the poll — requiring states to remove non-citizens from voter registration rolls — also received broad backing. Seventy-five percent of respondents supported that step, including 90% of Republicans, 70% of independents, and 59% of Democrats.
The survey also asked about federal legislation known as the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for federal voter registration and require states to take steps to ensure non-citizens are not on voter rolls.
In Alaska, 67% of respondents said they support the legislation, while 24% said they oppose it. Support was strongest among Republicans, at 89%, while 53% of independents and 36% of Democrats said they support the proposal.
The polling results place Alaska’s Democratic US Senate candidate, Mary Peltola, at odds with a large share of the state’s electorate on the issue of election integrity.
Peltola has opposed measures such as the SAVE America Act, which would ensure that only citizens participate in American elections.
Election integrity has become an increasingly prominent issue nationwide as Congress debates whether to implement stricter citizenship verification standards for voter registration.
The SAVE America Act would close loopholes that could allow non-citizens to appear on voter rolls, while critics argue existing safeguards are already sufficient and that additional requirements could create barriers for eligible voters.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski opposes the SAVE America Act, which she says is government overreach.
The survey was conducted Feb. 13–16 among over 400 Alaskans.

Peltola is going down before she even gets out of the gates. Alaskans know Peltola. We don’t trust her. We don’t want her.
Truth!
Four hundred people called hardly is a positive result
Statewide election approximately 250,000-300,000alaskans vote
The poll will had needed to call a 100,000 Alaskans for a more accurate reading of Alaskans
It’s like asking 400 Alaskans if people in jail and released felons if they should be allowed to vote
For polls and surveys to be believable the number has to be bigger
Tina many NATIONAL polls have a sample size of 1000-2500 usually likely or registered voters. Very rarely are there polls that include your stated number of participants.
The Heritage Foundation has a long history and experience with polling. If you had actually bothered to look up the survey you would have found the breakdown of demographics of the 415 likely voters they contacted and that the poll’s margin of sampling error is ±4.81 percentage points.
I received a survey call, which opened with “Do you support Mary Peltola?” I said “No”
The caller then said “That’s okay” in an apologetic tone and hung up.
There aren’t very many countries that allow non-citizens to vote in elections, those that do (mostly in the EU along with some South American countries) generally only allow for voting in local elections and not in nationwide elections. The American left is further left than the European left, or pretty much any others on the left of the political spectrum.
It’s illegal for non-citizens to vote in America, but it IS legal to hoodwink the gullible MAGA into thinking there is a problem.
Very good Evan, and what do you think might let an election official know if someone is a citizen or non-citizen and legally allowed to vote? Perhaps there is some way to identify if a person is a citizen or a non-citizen, welcome to the conversation…better late than never.
Evan, glad you finally understand the basics of non-citizens being prohibited to vote in our elections. In order to guard against abuse and illegal voting, you should then logically support means to ascertain if those registered to vote and cast votes are in fact citizens. Sadly simply signing a paper affirming such claim is not enough, as the case of a Mauritian citizen WITH A REMOVAL ORDER from 2000 demonstrates. He was able to register to vote by fraudulently claiming US citizenship in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024. While he is one example, we really do not know how many others may be out there and with the precipitous rise of illegal aliens in the country the existence of other cases such as this should be assumed!
“While he is one example” that’s the operative part of your comment
You can be naive and pretend that he is the ONLY ONE ever. Bottom line is still that’s ONE too many, Evan.
Texas investigated 33 non-citizens for voting illegally and Wisconsin referred 46 cases. While these are small numbers, those are only the ones that were caught. In tight elections (especially in state and local races) even small numbers can make the difference. Add to that some jurisdictions actively pushing to allow non-citizens(whether here legally or illegally) to vote in local races. It erases our national identity when the world gets a say on who will hold office and who will not.
THANK YOU EVAN!! Geezus….it is amazing how absolutely STUPID people are who believe that non-citizens can vote. That’s like saying (and believing) that dead people from the Confederate can wake up and vote and flip an election. Some of you are dumber than horse’s rearends. Non-citizens cannot vote! Check the U.S. Constitution republicans!
Thank you Evan! It appears that you are the only other person on here that has half a brain.
Truth!
We do have a problem with non-citizens voting in the sate of Alaska? Non-citizens that were removed before the 2024 election with and without history of voting (332), this happen again after the 2024 election, still again in 2025 local elections. The ones that have voted have violated the law. This is the direct result of not checking for citizenship before being placed on the voter role. Fix the process check for citizenship.
What kind of magic did they perform to be able to do that Dave? How do you vote when you have to check for citizenship in order to vote? It is in the U.S. constitution. And I see you didn’t bother to provide factual proof of your claim. You just pulled the number 332 out of thin air. I could easily see your 332 and just pull 291 votes that voted twice for trump. You are aware of republicans in different parts of the country who’ve gone to jail for voter suppression…which I’m sure you are against as are the rest of you guys, right?
And you think that people are not checking for citizenship? Can you prove that Dave?
