Aug. 14, 2026 – Alaskans who want to avoid the Election Day rush have another opportunity to cast their ballots this weekend, with major early voting locations open Saturday and Sunday across the state.
Alaska’s 2026 Primary Election is Tuesday, Aug. 18. Early and absentee in-person voting began Aug. 3 and will continue through Monday at locations around Alaska, with select regional sites also offering weekend hours.
The principal weekend locations will be open from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday, Aug. 15, and noon to 4 pm Sunday, Aug. 16.
Weekend early voting is available at:
- Anchorage: Midtown Mall, 600 E. Northern Lights Blvd.
- Fairbanks: Region III Elections Office, 675 Seventh Ave., Suite A2.
- Juneau: Region I Elections Office, Mendenhall Mall Annex.
- Kenai: Region V Elections Office, 11312 Kenai Spur Road, Suite 48.
- Nome: Region IV Elections Office, 214 Front St., Suite 130.
- Wasilla: Menard Sports Center, 1001 S. Clapp St.
The Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Nome and Wasilla locations carry ballots for all 40 Alaska House districts. The Kenai office has ballots for House districts 5, 6, 7, 8 and 37, according to the Division of Elections.
Many other absentee in-person locations at city halls, tribal offices and government buildings are open Friday and Monday, but their hours vary and most will not be open during the weekend.
Anchorage City Hall and the State Office Building in downtown Juneau are among the early voting locations open on weekdays but not over the weekend.
No excuse is required to vote early or absentee in person.
At a designated early voting site, election workers use voting tablets to confirm a voter’s eligibility and current residence address when the ballot is issued. At other absentee in-person locations, voters complete an oath and affidavit envelope. Those ballots are reviewed later by the Division of Elections and a bipartisan review board.
Voters should bring identification, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, passport, military identification or voter identification card. Other forms of identification may also be accepted.
Because hours and available ballots differ by location, voters should check the Division of Elections’ official early and absentee voting list before leaving home.
On Tuesday, Election Day polling places will be open from 7 am until 8 pm. Voters can find their assigned precinct and other registration information through the Division’s My Voter Information portal.
