Aug. 30, 2026 – Republican gubernatorial candidate Treg Taylor is calling on Bernadette Wilson and Dave Bronson to combine their campaigns and present a united Republican ticket in the November general election.
Taylor and his running mate, Candice English, said Monday that they would endorse a combined Wilson-Bronson ticket if the two campaigns agree to unite.
The proposal comes after Democrat Tom Begich suspended his campaign and endorsed fellow Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, who finished first in the Aug. 18 primary. Begich’s decision has intensified pressure on Republicans to consolidate behind one ticket rather than divide their vote among multiple candidates in Alaska’s ranked-choice general election.
“The question is simple: Do we want Alaskans choosing our next governor, or California mega-donors propping up JKT?” Taylor said.
Wilson finished as the leading Republican in the primary, behind Kreiss-Tomkins and Begich. Bronson finished as the second-highest Republican, while Taylor placed behind Bronson, not making the final four ballot in November.
Taylor’s announcement did not say whether Wilson or Bronson should head the proposed ticket, nor did it explain how their existing lieutenant governor candidates would be affected. Wilson is running with former state Sen. Mike Shower. Bronson also entered the race with his own running mate.
The statement is nevertheless Taylor’s clearest acknowledgment that Republicans risk losing the governor’s race if their vote remains divided while Democrats unite behind Kreiss-Tomkins.
“Our campaign was overwhelmingly supported by Alaskans, with 94% of our contributions coming from inside the state,” English said. “We believe Alaska’s governor should answer to Alaskans — not California mega-donors or special interests.”
The Taylor campaign contrasted its Alaska-based financial support with Kreiss-Tomkins’ campaign, noting that more than 80% of his contributions came from outside the state. Kreiss-Tomkins has received substantial support from California donors connected to the artificial intelligence and data-center industries.
“Alaskans have a choice,” Taylor said. “We can divide the Alaska vote and give an advantage to a campaign fueled by California money, or we can unite and give Alaskans a real choice. We believe Alaska wins when Alaskans come together.”
Wilson emerged from the primary with approximately 10.2% of the statewide vote, followed by Bronson with about 8.2% and Taylor with roughly 7.4%. Kreiss-Tomkins and Begich together captured more than 42% of the primary vote.
Taylor and English also thanked the volunteers, contributors and voters who supported their campaign.
“To the hundreds of volunteers and donors who supported our campaign and the thousands of Alaskans who trusted us with their vote — THANK YOU,” English said. “We are grateful. Now let’s elect a governor every Alaskan can be proud of.”
Neither the Wilson nor Bronson campaign had publicly responded to Taylor’s proposal at the time of publication.
Taylor has been under scrutiny for alleged violations of campaign finance laws and the Alaska Public Offices Commission recommended to the Division of Elections that he not be certified for the ballot in November, if he rose to the final four. His Sunday evening statement did not indicate that he is dropping or suspending his campaign, but appeared to be carefully avoiding that question.

Even if they don’t unify, I intend to rank them 1 & 2.
Thank you, Treg. A Wilson/Bronson ticket would devastate the queer little man from Sitka. Go for the slam dunk.
What about all the other Republicans? Would they also agree to drop out?
That’s potentially raising the stakes when the gamble is high enough with 11 other Republicans waiting.
Considering Alaska is not Red state despite Republicans outnumber in membership, it’ll be better for all republicans respectfully drop out and support Bernadette/Shower for the good of all of us
I’d hate to see Mike Shower get dumped. It’s not respectful while he has stuck through a whole year with Bernedette while she is mocked, gossiped about, and shunned even by her own blood relatives sharing same DNA with her plus too there is no one better suited for the office that oversees Elections than Mike Shower.
To. Be honest I think our Higher power may be trying to teach the Republican candidate Humility and Unity to respectfully leave and accept Bernedette/Wilson and Trust Him.
Either way if AKGOP loses in Nov. we will be learning humility and unity anyway. Why not just start now?
There is a quote “ “Hard times make strong men, strong men make good times, good times make weak men, weak men make hard times” and that’s exactly the time our generations are living
Under JKT and socialist Democrats I think they are not very strong men, and they’ll unnaturally increase harder times on all of us. So we can either learn humility and unity today. Or we can wait until after JKT has been governor for a couple years?
Rank the top 3 republicans. Don’t give the big money Californian backed democrat a win. Vote smart Alaska!
This isn’t democracy and this isn’t how constitutional republics are formed or maintained. This shows just how corrupt the jungle primary and rank voting is, we need to get ride of BM2 by voting yes on it’s repeal this November.
Treg prefers shady care home operators who defraud taxpayers and endanger our seniors who are in their care.
Not one mention of Kyle Bates in your blog, Sue, why is that ?
Suzanne, please stop comparing the % the TWO Dems got to the much smaller % Wilson and Bronson got due to many more Republicans in the race. This is purposefully deceptive.
Plus the number of actual primary votes for Republicans were significantly more than votes for Dems
DO NOT!!! Big mistake. Mike Shower is a great guy, and understands how to mechanically disassemble State spending and bring it into alignment with realistic income. He understands the annual agency slush fund that is unfilled state positions (fully funded but unfilled PCN’s carried from year to year) and the “spend it or lose it next year” spending mentality prevalent in public service agencies. He experienced it and brings thst lay knowledge to the team. With Wilson’s business acumen and Shower’s insider knowledge and determination, we can turn this state around. No merge. Move forward.
Stay on Treg. You are an honest man. Click Bishop is a dishonest, dishonorable man who should not be elevated beyond the current loss column.
Combine or drop out Bronson. The Sitka Homosexual is a Radicle Leftest Political Consultant. His job has been to get paid for hoodwinking the public in order to elect other Radical Left Democrats.
Check out JKT’s biography, specifically about being married. The web site shifts to his running mate. Why one asks, simple JKT knows if his Homosexuality is known to the public then he is toast. Just an example of the deception of the Homosexual San Francisco financed Alaska Democratic Party at it finest.
Bronson first choice, Wilson second.
It would be a mistake to think that all Republican primary voters will vote for the republican candidate, or that the number of Republican voters in the primary is all that is needed to overcome the Democrats and win. More variables are involved, including more voters in Nov, less voters in Nov. On either side, some voters not willing to vote for conservative rRepublican, or other than their preferred candidate, etc. Some primary voters may have crossed from Democrats to Republican to try to get a weak Republican to win the primary so that they are easier to beat for their real candidate- the Dem. Happens in lower 48, saw it here when working at poll one year. Need to go for as many conservative leaning Republican as possible.
