Alaska public safety union endorses Dan Sullivan for US Senate

Aug. 31, 2026 – The union representing many of Alaska’s law enforcement officers and first responders has endorsed Republican US Sen. Dan Sullivan for reelection.

The Public Safety Employees Association, AFSCME Local 803, represents Alaska State Troopers, Court Services Officers, deputy fire marshals, airport police and firefighters, and municipal police officers serving communities across the state.

“PSEA appreciates Senator Sullivan’s public service, his support of public safety, and your respect and honor for the work done by Alaska’s first responders,” PSEA Executive Director Charisse Millett said in announcing the endorsement. “We think you are fair and thoughtful in your decision making and that your work ethic and thoughtful and honest consideration of issues will serve all Alaskans well.”

The endorsement is a pivotal show of support from a public-sector union whose members work on the front lines of law enforcement, firefighting and emergency response across Alaska.

Sullivan’s campaign said the endorsement reflects the association’s confidence in his commitment to supporting law enforcement officers and first responders.

During his time in the Senate, Sullivan has emphasized public safety and support for the men and women who police Alaska’s communities, respond to emergencies and confront the state’s distinctive public-safety challenges.

PSEA’s endorsement adds organized law enforcement to Sullivan’s growing coalition of supporters as he campaigns for another term in the U.S. Senate.

His Democrat opponent Mary Peltola has union support from the AFL-CIO, IBEW, and other labor organizations.
