The Alaska Story has officially rejoined the modern era of online publishing: We now have a donate button.
It wasn’t our idea … it was yours.
Over the past few weeks, readers kept asking how they could chip in to help keep this Alaska-built, Alaska-powered news operation running strong. And, as always, when Alaskans ask, we deliver.
So as of today, that little button is live at the top right-hand corner on the website, ready for anyone who feels like fueling real news and commentary with a few dollars whenever the mood strikes.
The Alaska Story is not backed by dark money, Outside political foundations, or political operatives hiding behind nonprofit paperwork.
Unlike the crop of “nonprofit media” suddenly springing up around the state to push a Marxist-curated narrative, this project is straightforward: 100% Alaska-made and Alaska-supported.
Your support will help us as we fix the little bobbles and gremlins that running a website inevitably entails. It makes a huge difference.
As we near the end of our third week since launching on Nov. 4, we’re humbled by the enthusiasm, readership, and messages of support pouring in from across the state. People know Suzanne Downing’s track record — delivering sharp reporting, hard questions, and commentary rooted in Alaska’s interests, not an Outside NGO’s agenda.
Your support, financial, moral, and otherwise, is what keeps this engine running.
So thank you, Alaska. The donation button is now up. Use it anytime, or not at all. We’re just grateful you asked.
And we’re even more grateful you’re here with us, building The Alaska Story one day, one story at a time.

You’re still a terrible person
Hope you feel better. – sd
Thanks for the reminder of the constant contemptuous disdain regarding the reporting of only some of the most researched and validated truths available affecting our lives as well as our children and future generations.
Your contempt for the truthful reporting only further encourages me to financially support Suzanne as well as any other contributors of the truth with a generous donation and I encourage all others who appreciate this valuable information to do so within your means.
My only hope regarding your harsh comment is that you are not a real citizen but simply a foreign “bot” hellbent on the destruction of our freedom of information.
America doesnt need the hateful comments antagonizing the people who use it to fuel their ambitions to act on impulse to assassinate those they consider “dangerous” such as law enforcement, military members or simply people like Charlie Kirk who devote their lives to informing youth of the truth and offer help for those confused or our duly elected President for that matter.
If Suzanne is so “terrible” stay tuned to CNN or The View or watch Jimmy Kimmel make a fool out of himself until he cancels himself competely.
