May 31, 2026 – At an age when most people have long since retired from competition, Alaska poker legend Perry Green is still sitting at the table — and still cashing.
Green, a longtime Anchorage resident and one of Alaska’s most accomplished professional poker players, finished sixth this week in Event No. 4 at the 2026 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, a $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament that drew 828 entrants and generated a prize pool of more than $1 million. He earned $30,973 for the finish.
What made the run remarkable was Green’s age: 90.
The three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner battled his way to the final table and into the final six players remaining before being eliminated by eventual champion Jason Daly. Green entered the final day chasing a fourth WSOP bracelet, something that would have made poker history.
Poker fans across the country took notice. Professional poker star Phil Hellmuth celebrated Green’s deep run on social media, noting that the 90-year-old was still competing for a title against players decades younger.

Green is one of the true old-school legends of the game. Known for decades as “Alaska’s Poker Guru,” he won World Series of Poker bracelets in 1976, 1977, and 1979, and finished runner-up to Stu Ungar in the 1981 WSOP Main Event. He also made another Main Event final table in 1991.
According to WSOP records, Green now has three bracelets, 16 final tables, and more than $740,000 in official World Series earnings alone.
The final table payouts in this year’s Omaha Hi-Lo event were led by Daly, who collected $191,362 for the victory. Green’s sixth-place finish earned him just under $31,000, but for many poker fans, his performance was one of the stories of the tournament.
Fifty years after winning his first WSOP bracelet, Perry Green was once again competing for poker’s most coveted prize. And making the leaderboard.
Not bad for a 90-year-old from Alaska.

“I won…I won the money…..” Not quite but made me think it. Good skills sir.
America’s leaders used to Excell at the games of poker and chess. They played it for entertainment and education. They used their skills (even using a positions to their advantage) for how to get people and actions moving through government.
Then Boomers came along and just bullied their way through instead of using tactical and strategic maneuvering using real skills.
Boomers trained GenX and Millennials so now we just got a crowd of bullies.
