Peltola gets endorsement of the darling of gun control David Hogg

April 22, 2026 – Mary Peltola, once known for her more moderate positioning on gun rights, including highlighting her own firearm ownership and receiving past support from the National Rifle Association, is now drawing high-profile backing from two of the nation’s most prominent gun-control activists as she runs for US Senate.

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, and David Hogg, a national figure in progressive political organizing, have both thrown their support behind Peltola’s campaign. Their endorsements signal growing alignment with the national gun-control movement.

David Hogg

Hogg’s support is particularly striking. In the 2024 election cycle, he publicly criticized Peltola for not embracing stronger gun-control policies and indicated interest in backing primary challenges against Democrats he viewed as insufficiently aligned with his agenda. Since then, however, Hogg has reversed course, saying after what he described as a “good conversation” with Peltola that “people grow and change,” and confirming his support for her Senate bid.

The question is how Peltola’s positions have evolved since her earlier campaigns. During her 2024 run, she emphasized her Alaska roots, including her familiarity with firearms, and worked to appeal to a broad coalition of voters in a state where gun ownership is common and culturally ingrained.

Alaska consistently ranks among the states with the highest rates of gun ownership, with estimates often cited at roughly 65 firearms per 100 residents. That reality has traditionally shaped how candidates from both parties approach Second Amendment issues.

Now, with endorsements from Watts and Hogg, both of whom advocate for a wide range of federal gun restrictions, Peltola’s campaign is likely to face increased scrutiny over where she stands on key policies. Will the NRA endorse her again?

Advocacy efforts associated with national gun-control movements and Hogg and Watts have included proposals such as expanded background check systems, restrictions on certain types of firearms, tighter regulations on firearm purchases, and changes to self-defense laws.

    1. Peltola was pro-gun only to the extent it helped her wins votes. She’s a phony and will throw your 2nd Amendment rights in the river when dipsh_ts like Hogg convince her she has a better chance to win.

  1. Hey, remember when she was bragging about having over 200 guns in her house when she ran for her two year term???

What happened to all those guns? Did she lose them all when Buzzy kicked her out of his will??

Inquiring minds want to know 😎
If you see Mary, ask her‼️

  2. A sensible person can be pro hunting and possession of rifles and still support some entry level , low impact laws to reduce gun deaths.

  3. Scary Mary at it again.
I was hoping she would shift her focus on serving her master and become more useful by changing Joes diapers.

  4. Remember when the NRA endorsed her? They would not see what we all could see plainly. I am a Life Endowment member of the NRA and will not donate another penny to them.
