Pam Melin: When the Alaska GOP establishment panics, it bullies the grassroots

By PAM MELIN

Let’s just call this what it is: The Alaska GOP establishment walked straight into the trap they set for themselves.

We warned them, spelled it out, and practically drew them a map in crayon. Rather than fixing the internal rot, they kept pointing fingers at Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership – FACL, which is their favorite villain, or “online agitators,” or the grassroots, or anyone but themselves.

And now several op-eds drop in the last week, confirming they see undermining tactics in place. Two complaints filed in two districts to censure a senator? Suddenly the palace guards are sprinting around in full panic because the truth finally hit daylight.

And the response? Not reform, accountability or a shred of self-reflection. Nope. None of it.

They immediately pivoted to bullying their own voters. One has to just go read the plethora of comments from the same people all the time.

Certain elected officials have placed calls to grassroots voters to “strongly suggest” they stop posting negative comments about the Republican Party. The translation is: Shut up, fall in line, and stop exposing our failure.

This is what political insecurity looks like when it’s cornered: It turns authoritarian. Instead of earning trust, they try to suffocate dissent. Instead of building a bench, they burn their own people, or they host a unity event and try to force feed you,  the people, into thinking “you can trust us, we’re your leaders and we will take you to the mother ship.”

All while stacking the bench behind the scenes.

And here’s the punchline: Every meltdown, phone call, and “stop posting” demand proves our point more loudly than any op-ed ever could.

This is exactly why the Republican Party in Alaska has been losing credibility.

Not because of FACL and not because of the grassroots, but because the establishment cannot stop tripping over its own arrogance and blaming everyone else for the mess they created.

So yes, we told you so. We said the moment real scrutiny landed, they’d implode, overreact, and pressure people behind the scenes.

And they’re doing every bit of it.

If the Party wants real unity, here’s the recipe: Stop lying. Stop staging fake unity events, bullying the grassroots, and start fixing the party. Unity is something you earn.

What’s happening now is desperation by a machine terrified of being held accountable by the people it’s supposed to represent.

They can pressure, bully, threaten, and hide behind staged events all they want, but the one thing they can’t stop is the grassroots telling the truth. And that truth is about to steamroll their entire operation.

  1. Like I said. Alaska doesn’t know nor recognize God in one’s personal life as his God. Alaskans been brought up with a Luke warm religion of what they think is being a Christian and they want his blessings and never his rebuke, correction, and forgiveness.
The lack of us Alaskans letting God move in our lives is why Alaska governance is messed up, why the political parties are messed up, and why workplaces. Families, schools are messed up.

If you ain’t following the God of Isreal, Abraham, Moses, Noah, Jacob, Issac; then you are left to yourself as a narcissist doing what you think is right in your eyes.
The Republican Party bosses not knowing God. They think they are doing right in their own eyes. How do you move forward when the person around you is living wrong, you don’t let that stop you from living right. You work around them. Pray their eyes will be open, and keep pressing forward on the work you have to do.

So the grassroots groups if they know what they are doing is right, then keep on working hard. Regardless when others are intimidating, bullying, and manipulating to keep things how they know is right even though their own narcissism won’t let them see how wrong they are living.

  2. Upside down stars:
In broader culture, an inverted pentagram can be associated with occult or anti-establishment symbolism.
Is the use of inverted stars on the icon elephant a sign of distress or unintentional use?

  3. John 8:31b-32 “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    .
The truth is: 1) Partisan politics is a cancer, but a disease more readily treated thru education and the elimination of the Jungle Primary election system, than what alternatives currently appear available. 2) Sincere prayer works; pray sincerely for the solution to our current governance and a correction of our judiciary and the entrenched bureaucracies that perpetuate that governance. 🙏🙌

      1. Only by anecdote. How many coincidences have to occur before the skeptic can see God is at work? They are blind because the Holy Spirit has not yet opened their eyes to the truth. Keep praying my friends.

  4. The Democrat and Republican Party are partisan political groups. There is needed a group think and cohesion between members for them to survive. Right now the AK GOP is very dysfunctional and struggling with an identity because of too many decades of compromising with Democrats whom never compromise. When the AkGoP has so many members not even following God it leads up to this kind of confusion and bickering and complaining because of not knowing the right actions from not knowing the Word of God.
To which at this moment the Republicans in Congress are again at another critical (and I think Spiritually crossroads that I think God is watching closely) “should they vote to compromise yet again with Democrats to open the Hyde Amendment to taxpayer funded abortions?” Republicans have to remember who is their enemy is that Democrats Never compromise and they are very good at maintaining their group think to get what they want to keep their party surviving another 100years.

The Alaska Republican Party won’t get its desired group Unity and cohesion among members without accountability from its key group leaders. Then they have to stand on its principles like protecting every unborn life that Democrats oneday recognize Republicans are non negotiable on life matters that they won’t compromise that just to get president health care policy passed.

  5. I look forward to people like Pam Melin and like commentators to help me rejuvenate the Alaskan Independence Party.

    1. Lay us out a platform Bob. I suggest starting with the Alaska Republican platforms of 2020 and 2022, before the libtards got ahold of a shredder. I would far rather have you help us retake the AKGOP.
