Oct. 31, 2026 – With Alaska’s election now just three days away, Sen. Dan Sullivan’s campaign account on X (Twitter) is back online after a Friday-night suspension that raised questions about another Democrat operation to confuse voters about which Dan Sullivan is which.
The revelation of a sitting US senator’s social media account being suspended comes at the same time local reporting at the Anchorage Daily News says that Alaska voters can figure it out.
The account, @DanSullivan_AK, was temporarily suspended Oct. 30 for what a platform notice described as “violating our rules against inauthentic accounts.” It has since been reinstated. The affected account was Sullivan’s campaign account; his separate official Senate account, @SenDanSullivan, was not the one suspended.
The interruption came during the final weekend before the Nov. 3 election, amid controversy over allegations that Democratic operatives helped recruit a same-name challenger to draw votes away from the incumbent. In addition to being a mistake, the suspension was a probable Democrat tactic to distract the Sullivan campaign.
Chris Olmstead, a regional political director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, accused Peltola and her allies of reporting Sullivan’s campaign account for impersonation.
Olmstead called the suspension “another dirty play” and wrote: “Insane how far Mary’s willing to go to trick Alaskans.” He tagged X owner Elon Musk in his post.
Peltola’s campaign denies involvement, but she has denied involvement in other campaign capers for which she is the only beneficiary. In a response reported by Alaska’s News Source reporter Wil Courtney, the campaign characterized the accusations as “silly and unsubstantiated” and said it had made no effort to have Sullivan’s account suspended.
The timing added another dispute to a race roiled by allegations of deliberate voter confusion. The Peltola campaign is already under both federal and state criminal investigation.
The New York Times reported this week on an effort involving Democratic operatives and people connected to Peltola’s campaign to recruit a second Dan Sullivan to run against the incumbent. Peltola and her campaign deny recruiting candidates. The reporting has prompted over 30 federal subpoenas and a separate state investigation.
The irony is that while Alaskans are being asked to distinguish between two Senate candidates with nearly identical names, the incumbent’s own campaign account was briefly sidelined under a policy intended to stop inauthentic accounts.
Even X can’t figure it out.

Republicans should turn the tables on the Democrats here, and next election find an obscure person named Karl Marx to run for the US Senate.
