The Mat-Su Borough reaffirmed its conservative identity on Tuesday night, delivering decisive victories for right-leaning candidates and soundly defeating a proposed fuel tax.
In Assembly District 1, Michael Bowles won in commanding fashion.
“We won. We won every precinct in District 1,” Bowles said after results came in. “I say we because it is We The People of this Constitutional Republic that won! I see this as a mandate to keep the Mat-Su Conservative. I will serve you well!”
In Assembly District 2, Stephanie Nowers secured re-election, while in School Board District 2, Kendal Kruse claimed victory, adding another conservative voice to local education policy.
Two propositions were also on the ballot.
Proposition 1, expanding the prorated senior and disabled veteran residential property tax exemption filing period, passed handily.
Proposition 2, an advisory vote proposing a motor fuel excise tax, was overwhelmingly rejected by voters.
The fuel-tax proposal had been pitched as a way to broaden the borough’s revenue base beyond property owners, asking drivers, including visitors, to contribute toward road projects. Mat-Su voters pushed back strongly, viewing it as an unnecessary new tax that would increase costs without guaranteeing relief from property taxes.
With these results, the borough remains one of Alaska’s most solidly conservative regions, an area where voters continue to resist new taxes and favor limited government.

Good news! Not the entire population in Alaska is hellbent on the great swirling spiral down the porcelain throne of their demi-gods. [With demi-gods, I’m speaking of Los Anchorage of course.]
Now they need to work on their representation at the state level. Both Functions andjubilee Undercover Democrat need to go
