By now, most Americans who follow national news have seen video of the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis by an immigration agent who was being run over by her in her car.
What they may not realize is how profoundly different the story looks depending on where they get their information, and how little agreement there is about the facts on the ground.
According to reporting in the Washington Post, video footage shows that the ICE agent who fired the fatal shot was not directly in the vehicle’s path. That’s the headline. The paper states flatly that “the woman fatally shot by ICE in Minneapolis did not deserve to die,” declaring, without evidence, the killing was an unnecessary escalation by federal authorities during an a volatile immigration operation.
Other mainstream outlets copy that interpretation, emphasizing slow vehicle movement, disputed claims of danger, and the need to hold ICE and President Donald Trump accountable. Most reporters in the mainstream media today emulate what they see being done by the Washington Post. It’s their goal to work there.
But slow the footage down. Watch it frame by frame. A different picture emerges, one that much of the national press seems unwilling to engage honestly.
New released video shows officer acted in self defense Minneapolis police starting to walk back the tone.
— 0HOUR1 (@0hour1) January 8, 2026
The woman was using her vehicle to block law enforcement officers from moving through a public street during an active federal operation. An officer approached her car and attempted to clear the obstruction. In that moment, the vehicle moves, whether aggressively or recklessly is the crux of the dispute.
But it does move in a way that places an officer standing in front of it at risk. He was hit by the car. To dismiss that reality entirely is to pretend that a car cannot be a lethal weapon. If she was willing to run over the officer, what else was she prepared to do?
Kristi Noem, the Department of Homeland Security secretary, described the act as an attempted ramming and even invoked the term “domestic terrorism.”
On the other side, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has publicly rejected that interpretation, calling the federal account a “garbage narrative” and asserting that the officer’s life was never in danger. He said at a press conference that ICE needs to “get the f—- out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here.”
Frey continued, “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city. We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately.”
Tim Walz has slammed the ICE operation, warned of public safety risks, and even prepared the National Guard as protests have spread across the city. Minneapolis schools closed. Streets filled with protestors. The shooting became a flashpoint far beyond the individuals directly involved: It reveals the failed state of Minnesota. Clearly, the state has been taken over.
Much of the news coverage has leaned heavily on humanizing Renee Good. And rightly so, to a point. She was a human, a poet, a new community member, a mother, and someone who was putting herself in the middle of a conflict because she had determined that she was right and ICE and Trump are wrong.
But humanization by the media was a mission to exonerate her.
In story after story, the mainstream narrative suggests that because Good was not the target of the ICE operation, because she was a citizen, because she was described lovingly by friends and family, the use of force must therefore have been unjustified.
That is an emotional argument that tugs at the heartstrings of any sentient being.
But officers didn’t know any of that. They were operating with perceived threat in real time.
This pattern is not new. We saw it after Jan. 6, 2021, when selective facts shown by mainstream media outlets hardened instantly into moral certainty.
We saw it in the Kyle Rittenhouse case, where early narratives collapsed under sworn testimony and video evidence, but only after months of damage had been done. In each case, the “facts” the public absorbed depended almost entirely on which reporters they trusted and which outlets they avoided.
Here we go again. Left-leaning reporters and editors emphasize video angles that minimize threat, quote Democratic officials condemning federal overreach, and situate the shooting as a condemnation of Trump immigration enforcement.
Right-leaning outlets, while often more cautious, acknowledge uncertainty. But they, at least, concede that obstructing law enforcement with a vehicle is inherently dangerous.
None of this means the ICE officer was unquestionably justified. Investigations are under way, as well they should be, and there’s probably video out there that none of us has yet seen.
But pretending that the limited video footage we have seen is self-explanatory, or that intent can be read cleanly from a few seconds of grainy motion, is dishonest. People are seeing what they are primed by the media to see. Thank goodness for X and for citizen journalist doing the job the mainstream reporters won’t do.
What the public is being fed right now is less about Minneapolis and more about narrative control. Is this a story about an overzealous federal agent in a ruthless deportation machine? Or is it about the consequences of physically and illegally obstructing law enforcement in a moment of political rage?
Your answer likely depends on who you read and who you watch on that television screen.

It’s just too bad that the Leftist mainstream media took a different view of the murder of Ashli Babbitt on January 6th. It seems as if the State of Minnesota may become South Carolina/Ft Sumter if the governor mobilizes the State Militia, aka the National Guard to confront ICE and federal agents. Governor Tim Walz may be the new Jefferson Davis who was the President of the Confederacy. As a former Iowan, I say Iowa you had better start building that wall between your state and Minnesota.
BTW, I believe the mainstream media has been weaponized against the truth!
…and, oh look, all the stories regarding fraud in Minnesota have simply evanesced ! ! !
We’ve flipped the outrage from the Right to the Left. Sadly, the Left’s outrage is both costly and dangerous. I feel bad for the rational souls living in Minnesota. Alaska has a much smaller population. I really think we should be able to turn things around before Anchorage ends up like Minneapolis. Eh?
In many ways Anchorage is already like Minneapolis. It has a huge, welfare-dependent population moved there by the same entities that moved Somalis to the Midwest. Go into the mid-town Walmart and you’ll wonder if you’re still in the US!
“Peterson” sure doesn’t sound like a native American name to me…
Minnesota’s governor, lieutenant governor, and the mayor of Minneapolis have, for all practical purposes, stated publicly that U.S. immigration laws and citizenship requirements will not be honored or followed in their jurisdictions. They have openly encouraged their constituents to harass and obstruct federal immigration agents. The blood of this incident is on their hands. Biden/Harris and other previous administrations made great efforts to pour in absurd numbers of illegal aliens with little to no vetting, obviously with the plan of overwhelming the system. There is no clean, unobtrusive way to clean up the situation they created. The nationwide actions being taken by immigration authorities today are absolutely necessary to set things right.
It’s worth mentioning that all of the elected officials you mentioned are saying what they are saying and doing what they are doing in direct violation of their sworn oaths as elected officials.
It is interesting that all these individuals yelling and screaming, ignore that an ICE agent required medical care and hospitalization. That fact alone should temper all this hyperventilation. Of course it does not, as it is an inconvenient reality that does not further their desired narrative. In my opinion this is simply the next iteration of “Defund the police” . An undermining our lawful institutions and common values, maligning the men and women putting their lives on the line to uphold the very laws our society is based on. It is clearly designed to create as much chaos as possible.
maybe you should watch the videos. the other agents walked away from the agent that shot. None of the other agents even went over to check on him. The only reason this guy went to the hospital is if he was looking for a workman’s comp
The agent went to the hospital. That is a fact. Your speculating (and not in a rational way) is really not helpful.
New video has emerged clearly showing an agent standing in front of her vehicle as she accelerated.
What made the first move – the agent or the car? Maybe the agent stepped in front of the car just so that his shooting would be “justified”. Clever.
And wouldn’t you try to pull away if soldier-looking people with guns were screaming at you, approaching you, and sticking their hands in your car window? You’d be scared too, and try to pull away. The woman’s reaction is entirely reasonable, understandable, and natural.
From all the video it was clear by her taunting and trash talking that she knew exactly who she was dealing with. Your innocent wallflower theory here is nothing but plain and evil denial of the truth.
There are multiple tangents from all of this. A difficult one is that many on the Left refuse to accept that folks entering the country illegally have broken the law and are subject to deportation. That is a fact. The Left, apparently, WANTED to let perhaps 20 MILLION people illegally into the country – and the reasons for this are unknown or unspeakable. Because the Biden regime ignored the law, we now have a mess. Rather than admit error or guilt, the Left proclaims: “ but TRUMP”. The Left (and including Lisa Murkowski) like to talk about “the rule of law”. Part of this is immigration law, which the Biden regime blatantly perverted, twisted and ignored. The Resistance needs to address this part of “the rule of law”.
It’s not necessarily that it’s being done, but how it is being done. Don’t you get that?
Oh Hans what an admission! You are basically supporting the action, you just can’t stand that President Trump is doing it! Please!
You think we did not have large ICE and Border Patrol operation BEFORE this administration, with lots of agents on the ground and many agencies involved? That’s naive and wrong.
The big difference is NOT the ICE actions, but the ginned up hate and threats towards them by the large number of organized protestors aided and abetted by pandering politicians, who with that actions in turn aid and abet criminals and terrorists illegally here, victimizing American communities. You don’t care about law and order, you care about beating Trump at any cost and screw the country! Despicable!
No. Deport it if you must but do it with decency while respecting human rights, and without the current cruelty. Noem is a sick woman, and Miller is even worse. What’s being done now is nothing more than reprehensible intimidation. You’d better hope that you aren’t a brown person. And maybe even white people are now at risk judging by the recent assassination of Renee Good.
That which ye sow, ye shall also reap.
Words have meanings.
Assassination 1: murder by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons : the act or an instance of assassinating someone (such as a prominent political leader).
Putting oneself in danger by not complying with lawful orders while obstructing a public road and then using a vehicle as a weapon then suffering the unfortunate results of the actions you’ve taken is not now nor has it ever been an assassination, to suggest otherwise shows a complete lack of understanding of the events let alone the English language.
“Deport it if you must but do it with decency while respecting human rights…” Hans you are blind and willfully so affording foreign murderers, terrorists and rapist more deference than your fellow Americans.
Renee Good put herself in that situation. She taunted and attacked law enforcement and sadly learned a permanent lesson. That which you sow, ye shall also reap!
PS. “brown person” really?? Teddy Roosevelt warned the nation against people like you! Shame on you!
Over 600,000 individuals have been deported since January of 2025. Almost all of those deportations have occurred pursuant to an administrative process established by Congress. I regret the loss of Ms. Good. Impeding or obstructing law enforcement operations is super dangerous; expecting that such actions will somehow affect significant changes to law enforcement procedures and operations at a particular time is foolish. At bottom, effectively all of the 10-plus million that illegally entered the country under the Biden regime understand that they had and have no right to remain in the United States. I have admitted that the current situation is a mess but why can’t the Left admit that they created the mess? The Left needs to apologize for creating a cruel and very false hope.
I have to tell you that I watched the videos of the ICE official and it is apparent that the driver was no where close to the officer who killed her. It appears that she was trying to escape the officers and not harm them. This is a typical response for women and other victims of violence. I think Trump is the problem and that both Trump and Noem are liars and violent individuals. I am a retired psychologist and a citizen of Alaska since 1975. This president has a mental health disorder and his actions are violent and his anger transparent and unresolved towards immigrants, women, and people of color. Yes, I am a Democrat and I am not attacking this site for the comments, but division doesn’t help anyone. We must all save this country together and that includes Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
You comment basically confirms my thoughts made immediately above. I would offer, additionally, that viewing the entire world through the lenses of identity politics is absolute nonsense. If that is the way you have practiced your profession, you have done a disservice to your clients. I appreciate the need to end division and conflict but pushing identity politics – tribalism – is not the way to do it.
You watched only the videos that support your predetermined view of the incident
When a law enforcement officer tells you to stop and get out of your vehicle, you comply. Period! This lady was asked multiple times to get out of her car. Instead she chose to aggressively drive away. At that point the car is considered a deadly weapon and a threat to the officers and deadly force is applicable.
I hear all about “following the law” but apparently enforcing immigration law does not count in some circle. That is hypocritical and dishonest. Coincidentally Obama deported almost 3 million illegals using ICE agents yet you probably had no problem with any of that. (The most in the last 3 decades by the way)
I also do not subscribe to your “diagnosis”. Armchair declarations without a proper in-person assessment and observations based on tainted or manipulated imagery are worthless in my opinion. It is simply a convenient out to ignore the deliberated vilification of those you disagree with. I find it further interesting how the juvenile continued temper tantrum plays out, by people who can not accept that their candidate lost. Didn’t we hear about democracy? The will of the people? …at nauseaum? The ginned up paid-for protesters are fomenting fear to create hate and division.
If you want to save this country I recommend review the actions in a factual neutral light. These are lawful actions! Read the constitution for yourself! .
If we want to save this country we should remember that we are all simply Americans and a nation of laws. We should heed President Theodore Roosevelt warning. Theodore Roosevelt criticized “hyphenated Americans,” arguing that those who identified with their ethnic backgrounds over their American identity were not true Americans. He believed this division could harm national unity and loyalty, especially during times of conflict. So let’s us treat each other with respect! Start there Dee!
Dee,
Your post is full of contradictory statements to the point of absurdity.
Dee Foster, as a professional psychologist how can you diagnose an individual (President Trump) without even seeing, talking, to that person. This calls into question your ability to diagnose thoroughly a patient. BTW, were you privately employed or employed for the government such as a school district? Thank you for paying attention to this matter.
The only reason she was in the vicinity of this dangerous operation was because she CHOSE to be there to impede the arrest of illegal criminals. A very stupid decision on her part that cost her dearly. Hopefully the whistleblowers will take notice and find something wiser to do.
No jury would convict her of anything after viewing the video. Spin it all you want. People know what they are seeing, even if their politics won’t allow them to admit it.
She had a dude with a gun trying to pull her car door open. What would you do?
Wow that’s some spin alright!
Hmm those tactical vests and lettering should have given her a clue, especial considering she was there to harass them.
Deliberately blocking a public road way to impede law enforcement and refusing orders from same, will get you at a minimum a set of handcuff and a ride to the station….. trying to run them over also has a predictable outcome. From the recorded dialogue she knew exactly what she was doing and who she was talking to. Give it up Hans!
Any people regardless of color who are foolish enough to recklessly engage in criminal behavior by placing themselves or using their vehicle to impede officers upholding the law are putting themselves at risk of any consequences from doing so. If you are stupid enough to resist arrest or not follow orders there is no one to blame but themselves. Tim Walz urged everyone to “use your bodies to resist” but you will never see him on the street.
He is hiding in his basement worrying about the billions in fraud he oversaw. Maybe some landed a little too close to him.
So now Renee Good is in Hell to which she probably didn’t even know it existed
Someone running another human being down. We all know she was no Christian
And the wages of sin is death an eternal death
I think she watched too much tv and social media that she forgot the ICE employees are human beings too
Tina, what a despicable and callous comment! The woman made poor choices and your words are clearly geared towards fanning the flames! Shame on you!
Tina you need help ( as well as grammar lessons).
Tina. You reveal much about your character, and it’s not good. This vile comment and your rambling christian hypocrisy paints you as intolerant, poorly educated and most of all, gullible.
To many on the left, the tragic death of Renee Good is little more than political fodder, some have been waiting for a great white martyr. Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) Said about Renee Good that she was “Not just a resident of Minnesota, a U.S. citizen … a 37-year-old white woman,” Now Ramirez along with other fellow Democrats are threatening a government shutdown and cutting funding to ICE. There are reports that Good received training on how to engage with ICE officers while they are taking part in their official duties. What kind of training did she receive and who provided this training, perhaps they should be considered as liable for the death of Renee Good, especially if the training involved blocking public roads and attempting to flee law enforcement. It’s horrible that people are being misled by others in positions of authority and needlessly putting themselves in harms way.
You are talking about yourself here Steve-O, “ It’s horrible that people are being misled by others”.
I’m glad to see that you agree that Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) and others in positions of authority on the left are trying to mislead people.
A martyr to the cause just like Charlie Kirk, only she was a decent person and not a conflict entrepreneur like he was.
Assumes facts not in evidence. Theres nothing out there showing that she was a decent person. She could have been a,real louse, like Hans here
Your comment here proves the point in the title. Charlie Kirk went to a gun free zone at a school to have an open debate, he was murdered because of it. Renee Good was trained and set loose to disrupt legal law enforcement actions, she did not comply with lawful orders, and she used a vehicle as a weapon. I don’t think she deserved to die, unfortunately leftists have weaponized people and are throwing them into situations that they wouldn’t otherwise find themselves in, and to many on the left the ends justify the means.
Like a lemming off a cliff, as always. You have surrendered your own integrity and perception of reality.
“Q: How many fingers am I holding up, Winston? A: I see however many the Party says I am seeing.”
You’re really going hard with the projection and the “I’m rubber you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks on you” response again huh dog? You can do better, I have faith in you.
Regarding the fraud-waste-abuse-manipulation in MN, these questions still stand unanswered(!!!) …
1) To what extent has cultural insularity or clan-based networks within the Somali community enabled large-scale fraud schemes, how can this be addressed without stereotyping an entire ‘pirate’ group (or, is it completely legit and warranted), how much more should Taxpayers be expected to fund – support, and how is this benefiting the US and Taxpayers?
2) Why did Minnesota state agencies and federal oversight fail to detect and prevent multi-billions in potential fraud for years (is this also happening here in AK907 … possibly within the AK Native 8.a program?), who in government should be held “criminally” accountable for the lapses, and should the Death Penalty apply to guilty?
3) Are the recent federal investigations and ICE deployments politically motivated to target Somali immigrants, or do they reflect genuine patterns of organized fraud disproportionately involving this demographic and/or other Pirate Organizations?
4) How much of the alleged fraud in child care and autism programs is tied to broader immigration policies that fast-tracked resettlement without adequate integration support, and what reforms are needed to prevent exploitation (eg: possibly a ‘sheep-dippin indoctrination efforts, up to and including electro-therapy)?
5) What long-term damage has this situation inflicted on trust between the Somali ‘Pirate’ community and law enforcement, and can recovery happen without dismissing valid fraud concerns or ignoring community trauma from threats and backlash?
The bottom-line is that a wide variety of fraud has been allowed to occur for what appears to be political justifications that benefit one political group, specifically the Democrats (and Rhinos like Lisa!). Multiple heads must role in this major transgression against the Taxpayer. Until then, why should we continue to pay taxes and when can we trust those within the Government and Institutions?
Miss Good was bad
But now she dead
Shoulda did what police said.
This situation could have been avoided if the derelict mayor and governor would not have instructed their state and local police departments to “not” cooperate with federal ICE procedures. Mayor Frey telling ICE to “get the f**k out of our city” is an indicator that they clearly aren’t willing to abide with federal rules as well as cooperate and assist in upholding federal law enforcement. Based on the fact that billions of covid taxpayer dollars was embezzled in their state that they were supposed to regulate and oversee it appears Minnesota government only wants the money to squander as they see fit. Perhaps Minnesota should rethink their affiliation with the US and possibly join the Somalian government if that seems to be the corrupt regime they prefer.
