Sept. 26, 2026 – Four people were taken to Anchorage hospitals after a shooting early Saturday in the 2400 block of Spenard Road, according to the Anchorage Police Department. Police described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
APD’s preliminary statement gave no account of what led to the shooting, whether anyone had been detained or where in the block the shots were fired. The department offered little information, saying the circumstances remained under investigation and that more details would follow. Hours later, those questions remained unanswered in its public report.
A separate account based on emergency response information and observations at the scene placed the call at about 3 am near Chilkoot Charlie’s. It said Anchorage Fire Department crews were dispatched with police, additional responders were called as reports of multiple victims came in, and the response was upgraded to a multiple-victim incident.
APD has identified only the 2400 block of Spenard Road as the location; it has not confirmed that the shooting occurred inside the bar or on its property.
