THE ALASKA STORY
Oct. 28, 2026 – Congressman Nick Begich’s office has helped Alaskans recover more than $3 million in benefits, tax refunds, and other federal payments since he took office in January 2025, according to an announcement released Wednesday.
The total reflects constituent casework involving federal agencies, including assistance with veterans’ benefits, Social Security payments, and IRS matters. His office also assists Alaskans with passport delays and other problems involving federal services.
“I’m proud to announce that our constituent services team has now returned over $3 million to Alaskans who were waiting on benefits, tax refunds, and other federal payments,” Begich said.
“Helping Alaskans navigate the federal government is an important responsibility of a congressional office,” he said. “Whether it’s securing long-overdue veterans’ benefits, resolving Social Security issues, or cutting through bureaucratic red tape, my team is committed to delivering results for every Alaskan who comes to us for assistance and making sure all Alaskans know they have a resource in our office.”
The announcement included accounts from several constituents, identified by first name and last initial, who described getting help with problems they had struggled to resolve on their own.
“Getting nearly 12k returned to me is going to help me tremendously,” said Moses J., according to the release. “I’m incredibly grateful to Congressman Begich and his staff for taking the time to help me and see this through. Their help has made a real difference in my life.”
Another constituent, Phillip W., said Begich’s team began helping him during the congressman’s first week in office with an unresolved military retirement pay issue. He said he had already corrected paperwork with the VA and made numerous calls without resolving the problem.
Other cases involved services and records rather than payments. Audra G. reported that her family’s mail delivery resumed after the office intervened. Sean S. said the office helped resolve his adopted children’s name changes after the family had spent two years trying to complete the process.
Shane P., who received assistance with Social Security, said he had shared his experience with friends and family so other Alaskans would know help was available.
Alaskans seeking assistance with a federal agency are being directed to Begich’s constituent services page to complete a casework request form.

I never thought a person named Begich would be good for Alaska. I’m so glad I got behind him when he started his initial run against Don Young, just before Don passed.
