Newly obtained documents reveal that the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice secretly subpoenaed the phone records of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan for a period spanning more than two years, part of the same Arctic Frost surveillance dragnet that spied on Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan and at least a dozen other elected Republicans.
According to information released in response to Chairman Jordan’s request for internal communications between Verizon Wireless and former Special Counsel Jack Smith, the Justice Department issued a grand jury subpoena on April 25, 2022, seeking “all call detail records” belonging to Jordan dating back to Jan. 1, 2020.
The subpoena by Smith sought a wide range of data: inbound and outbound calls, text messages, voicemail metadata, direct-connect communications, IP addresses, location information, and payment sources.
The order was paired with a nondisclosure requirement preventing Verizon from informing Chairman Jordan of the surveillance, with the Justice Department claiming that any notification could lead to “flight from prosecution, destruction of or tampering with evidence, intimidation of potential witnesses, and serious jeopardy to the investigation.”
The subpoena was issued just days after the launch of the Arctic Frost investigation on April 13, 2022—a probe that later became the backbone of Special Counsel Smith’s election-related case against former President Donald Trump. During that period, Smith’s team quietly obtained the phone records of more than a dozen sitting Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska, whose surveillance was first revealed earlier this year.
The records request for Jordan was made by Timothy Duree, a Justice Department prosecutor who worked closely with Thomas Windom, a senior member of Smith’s team who was recently referred to the DOJ for criminal prosecution by the House Judiciary Committee.
The Committee reports that several members of the Special Counsel’s office declined to fully cooperate with its inquiry into alleged abuses and overreach undertaken during the Trump prosecutions. Lawmakers say the pattern of secrecy, metadata sweeps, and nondisclosure orders raises continued concerns about politically motivated weaponization of federal law enforcement.
As Special Counsel, Smith held responsibility for the conduct of his office, including the surveillance tactics used throughout Arctic Frost. The newly released documents indicate the breadth of that surveillance was far wider than previously known, and that senior lawmakers, including Alaska’s Sullivan, were monitored without their knowledge by the Biden-Harris Justice Department during a sweeping probe of Republicans.

In the last couple of decades, it seems as if:
… The bullets only fly towards the Conservatives.
… The Guv’ment (including a multitude of Agencies) is weaponized towards the Conservatives.
… The media is biased such that it provides a constant disparagement towards Conservatives.
… The justice system is severely feminized (ie: driven by feelings – emotions)and weaponized towards Conservatives.
Without swift actions to cut this cancer out, it may take decades of successive Conservative Administrations to clean-up.
Now is the time for severe heavy handed jail sentencing or the rot will continue which we all know will happen with Obama/Biden appointed self serving judges.
It’s not spying for hell’s sake. It’s investigation and it’s appropriate. That’s what law enforcement does. The real issue is not the process but the content of Jordan’s and Sullivan’s records. If Sullivan was involved in the insurrection which nearly destroyed the constitution and nearly murdered the Vice President of the United States of America, I’d want to know.
Evan,
Do you consider the current investigations into the previous administration to be appropriate since there are signs that a treasonous coup was being actively pursued by the very people who were illegally spying on Senators and others all while fabricating lies and hiding evidenceof their crimes?
What insurrection that nearly destroyed the constitution and nearly murdered the Vice President of the United States of America are you claiming Senator Sullivan was involved in?
Steve-O, as for Sullivan’s role in the J6 domestic terrorism riot, I said “if” and I did not accuse him. Ten bucks says he’s involved somehow but it hasn’t yet been proven.
As for your other point about investigating the previous administration, I haven’t heard about that or maybe I haven’t read about it using your language. I’m interested. I’m not like a MAGA, I can give praise and blame to both sides. Would you do me the favor of providing a link that supports your point?
Evan,
Oh, I guess you never took the time to become informed about what an insurrection is. Does anyone still incorrectly and ignorantly call Jan 6 an insurrection? I thought that terminology was taken out of the leftist talking points years ago after they begrudgingly accepted the fact that words have meanings. Can you please share information on any of those charged with insurrection or terrorism for their role in Jan 6?
The previous Administrations actions and the investigations into them are all over the news here in America, it’s also in the news in other nations around the world. In fact you are commenting on just such an article.
CNN, the VIEW and even Jimmy Kimmel hasnt spoken a word about any wrong doing.
NPR drivel dried up.
That might explain the gap in information for at least one section of the public.
J6 was an insurrection. The facts and complexity and interstate violations support that. You are likely hung up on the language of convict’s charges. That’s a weak and pathetic attempt to lessen the impact of that violent, deadly, orchestrated assault on our democracy.
“It’s not spying for hell’s sake”? Spying is not “investigation” and it certainly is not “appropriate”. It is totally illegal which is similar to what dictators use in third world countries to remain in total control of their flock with phony rigged elections. It is also referred to as communism.
All of House speaker Kevin McCarthy’s forms of communication were being spied on from day one after Kamala Harris’s devastating loss November 6 (similar to Hillary’s) for 2 months all the way up until January 6 or more.
That alone proves the Democrats once in power use all taxpayer funded resources available to call foul.
Barack Obama used it to spy on Trump’s first campaign as well as Hillary used the corrupt DNC campaign money to to create the phony Steele Dossier also called “Russian collusion” in case you never heard of it in which James Comey used the corrupted FBI to assist in all the lies to back it up.
It has become simply what Democrats do.
As the saying goes, government is not your friend. The less the better. Just leave us alone. We well know how to run our own lives and safety.. We will not be brainless slaves. By nature, Americans are rebels! Government needs to remember that.
