July 1, 2026 – President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Republican Party will hold what he described as the first midterm convention in modern American history, bringing Republicans to Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 9-10 for an event aimed at celebrating the administration’s accomplishments and energizing supporters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The announcement was made by Trump on Truth Social and quickly followed by a statement from Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters, who called the gathering a historic event.
“This historic Midterm Convention will highlight President Trump’s many accomplishments and unwavering commitment to restoring America,” Gruters said. “This convention will be a Trumpapalooza, where we will showcase the America First agenda, which has delivered the largest tax cut in history and made communities safer. President Trump will unite Republicans around our shared vision, build momentum, and deliver an incredible convention for our Party.”
In his Truth Social post, Trump called the event “BIG NEWS!” and said it would be the first midterm convention ever held by the Republican Party.
“It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event,” Trump wrote.
The president said the convention will celebrate what he called the “Great American Comeback” and highlight policies enacted during his second administration, including eliminating federal taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits, strengthening border security, reducing energy costs, and expanding domestic energy production.
Trump also pointed to declining oil prices and his administration’s foreign policy, writing that “Oil Prices are dropping sharply, even as we Denuclearize Iran.”
According to Trump, the Dallas gathering will feature “hardworking Americans, our Great Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, First Responders, and Job Creators” alongside entertainment acts, describing it as “a RALLY like none other.”
The president also tied the convention to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
“America’s 250th Birthday is approaching, and together, we are building the foundation for the NEXT 250 YEARS of American Greatness,” Trump wrote. “Dallas will take center stage on September 9th and 10th as we celebrate our Nation, our achievements, and our bright future.”

Midterm election years traditionally do not feature national party conventions, which are typically reserved for presidential election cycles to nominate candidates. Instead, parties generally hold smaller meetings of their national committees or regional political gatherings. The Dallas event marks an effort by Republicans to create a national showcase for the Trump administration’s agenda ahead of the November 2026 elections, when control of Congress will again be at stake.
Additional details about speakers, delegates, programming, and attendance are expected to be announced by the Republican National Committee in the coming weeks.

Beware of Dallas, Mr. President! JFK was not so lucky. There are maniacs on the loose in Dallas.
They’re not limited to Dallas. DC has them, as evidenced at the correspondent’S gala, not to mention Butler, PA
Florida too.
