March 4, 2026 – A coalition of left-leaning activist groups is planning a large demonstration in downtown Anchorage later this month as part of a nationwide day of protests targeting immigration enforcement and the Trump administration.

The Alaska-based activist group Stand Up Alaska is helping organize the Anchorage event for the national “No Kings” day of protest scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026. The gathering is part of a broader effort coordinated by the No Kings Coalition, which includes progressive organizations such as Indivisible, the ACLU, MoveOn, and other advocacy groups.

Organizers say the Anchorage demonstration will include a noisy march through downtown culminating at the Park Strip along Ninth Avenue. In a Facebook video promoting the event, an organizer called for participants to bring instruments and noisemakers, saying the goal is to assemble thousands of people.

“We want 3,000 people with instruments,” the organizer said in the video, describing plans to march to the Park Strip while musicians and participants create a loud, coordinated demonstration. See the video announcement here:

“Let’s make it as loud as possible going down to the Park Strip and back,” the video urges.

According to the video, the group intends to have musicians lead the procession while the crowd marches from downtown to the Park Strip, where organizers say they will stage additional demonstrations.

The Anchorage rally is part of what will be a nationwide protest movement. Activist groups have been planning events across all 50 states, with hundreds of rallies, marches, and demonstrations already listed as of late February.

The flagship national event is expected to take place in Minneapolis–St. Paul, where recent protests have centered around federal immigration enforcement operations involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The coalition’s messaging frames the demonstrations as a protest against what organizers describe as authoritarian policies and aggressive immigration enforcement. Their stated goals include opposing ICE operations, demanding accountability for enforcement incidents, and calling for reductions in immigration enforcement powers. Some affiliated groups have gone further, advocating the abolition or defunding of ICE entirely.

In Anchorage, Stand Up Alaska is part of the local organizing effort. The group has previously worked with labor unions and progressive advocacy organizations. Public disclosures from previous years show that Service Employees International Union Local 775NW Healthcare has provided support to the group, including a reported $25,000 contribution in 2023, and the Center for Popular Democracy has also been listed as a past funder.

Stand Up Alaska has organized demonstrations in the city before, often bringing together a coalition of labor organizations, activist groups, and national progressive networks.

Also expected to participate in the Anchorage event are activists associated with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a far-left political organization that frequently appears at demonstrations nationwide.

The Anchorage protest is being promoted as peaceful, but organizers are emphasizing high decibels and spectacle as key features of the event. Participants are being encouraged to bring drums, horns, and other instruments to create what organizers describe as a large, loud procession through downtown.

The protest comes amid a turbulent international and domestic political environment. While activists say the demonstrations are aimed at opposing authoritarianism, the irony of the message coming just days after the Trump Administration participated in military actions that resulted in the removal of Iran’s long-standing authoritarian ruler, the Ayatollah.

For Anchorage residents, the planned march is expected to bring disruption downtown on March 28.

  1. All illegals need to go.

I am sure the left is embolden as the neocons have distracted and split our coalition. The cost of their foolishness will continue.

A pox on neocons and leftists. They both seek to destroy our country.

  2. “……….“Let’s make it as loud as possible going down to the Park Strip and back…………”
Yet another reason why the wise in Anchorage are moving to the Valley.

  3. Thanks for the heads-up.
    .
As if there weren’t enough reasons for staying away from downtown…
    .
Wait a minute …what if marches and loud noises drive the bums away, is this a bad thing?

    1. They should finish at Town Square. They can celebrate with their drug addicted criminal cohorts.

  4. I am so tired of these ignorant people. I say we just call the 28th a holiday, boycott downtown, and let them screech to the ravens. Intelligent people shouldn’t have to listen to them.

  5. Should make the neighbors who live on the Park Strip very happy. Then again, many of them will join in the protest, I suspect.
    .
Just one more reason to avoid that part of Anchorage.

  6. Probably wouldn’t help to point out to them that, if we had a king, they wouldn’t be allowed to protest. So, there’s that.

  7. I would suggest ignoring them. Put in earplugs and avoid their playground. What are they accomplishing? They perform for their own playmates and most thinking people won’t be moved. Thank you for the heads up Suzanne. We can plan our day accordingly and go elsewhere.

  8. That will be 3000 people with too much time on their hands and no motivation to do anything better.
