US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the most prominent figures on the far left, is now raising money for Alaska Democrat Mary Peltola’s US Senate campaign, signaling that national Democratic power brokers are moving quickly to support Peltola.
In a fundraising appeal circulating on social media, Ocasio-Cortez tells her supporters that Peltola has launched a campaign against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan and asks donors to split a contribution between her own campaign and Peltola’s Senate bid. The pitch highlights Peltola’s prior statewide victories and urges small-dollar donors to help flip the Alaska seat.
The appeal bears the branding of Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional campaign and directly links to Peltola’s fundraising operation, effectively merging Alaska’s Senate race into the national progressive fundraising machine.
Ocasio-Cortez, who represents a heavily Democratic district in New York City, is one of the most visible champions of the Democratic Party’s radical left wing. She has built her national profile advocating for the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, higher taxes on wealthy Americans, and major expansions of federal spending. She has also proposed abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, government-funded healthcare for all Americans, and expansive climate mandates that would dramatically reshape the U.S. energy sector.
Her alignment with Peltola is the latest sign that the former Alaska congresswoman’s Senate run is being nationalized almost immediately after its launch.
Peltola’s Senate launch stumbles out of gate as Kamala Harris commingles her funds and donors are sent to New Hampshire Democrat’s fundraising page
Peltola announced Monday morning that she will challenge Sullivan, a two-term Republican who has already raised more than $6 million for his reelection campaign. Her rollout came at 4 am Alaska time, a move widely seen as aimed at the Washington, D.C., donor class rather than Alaska voters. Within hours, her campaign was being boosted by national Democratic figures and fundraising networks.
This is not the first time national Democrats have rushed in to elevate Peltola. Former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, both Biden alumni, have both already promoted her Senate campaign to their donor lists, helping her tap into the party’s deep national fundraising infrastructure.
The AOC fundraising pitch follows a rocky early rollout for Peltola’s campaign. Her initial announcement mistakenly directed some donors to the Senate campaign of Democrat Chris Pappas in New Hampshire.
Peltola served one full term and one partial term in the US House before losing her seat in 2024 to Congressman Nick Begich. During her time in Congress, she aligned with the Biden administration, including voting with Democrats on energy, climate, and spending bills that were unpopular with many Alaska voters. She endorsed Joe Biden’s reelection bid and said he was one of the sharpest people she had met in DC.

Clearly someone from outside in a left wing echo chamber is running Mary’s campaign if they think an endorsements from AOC, Buttigieg, or Kamala helps her here. Sure it will garner some campaign cash from some lefty coastal elites, which I guess is what they are really in the political business for after all.
