Oct. 15, 2026 – President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the execution of Fort Hood mass murderer Nidal Malik Hasan will not be livestreamed, reversing a plan announced by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said he believed broadcasting the execution could deter terrorism, but acknowledged objections from people who opposed watching a death carried out publicly. His decision leaves the planned firing-squad execution in place while canceling the public broadcast.
“I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device,” Trump wrote.
“He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed,” the president continued. “That said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose. They deserve to witness JUSTICE!”
The announcement followed criticism, some of it from faith-based leaders, of the Pentagon’s broadcast plan and questions about whether Trump would ultimately support it. Hasan’s execution is scheduled for Dec. 3.
Hasan, a former Army major and psychiatrist, killed 13 people and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 2013. One of those killed was a pregnant soldier whose unborn son also died.
Trump also used Thursday’s announcement to criticize the Obama administration’s handling of warning signs before the attack, pointing to Hasan’s communications with radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
“Barack Hussein Obama’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intercepted electronic communications between Hasan and the radical Yemeni-American cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki,” Trump wrote. “When reviewed by his FBI terrorism task force, investigators concluded that Hasan’s emails were not a threat. This assessment of the Obama Administration’s actions was later considered to be a key intelligence failure.”

Good decision by Trump. His first one in a while. I guess when he said no new wars he didn’t mean it. Iran has been weeks/months away from a nuke for many years now. (Let the comments of me not being a true conservative begin)
I won’t castigated you. As you write, it is a rare good decision.
Charles Dickens wrote eloquently about the coarsening and degrading to us regarding public executions >

Note to Hegseth:
Slow is Smooth, and Smooth is Fast” is a saying often attributed to the U.S. Navy SEALs. The idea is that going too fast, rushing, leads to mistakes which slow you down, and put you in danger. In contrast, going slowly, smoothly, and doing things right the first time, is the fast way.
Brain first then mouth.
Darn. Well I guess Nancy and I will have to go and watch reruns of Lisa and Liz Cheney going after Donald Trump for alleged sexual abuse allegations.
With only 3 weeks to go is there any chance we could revive the migrant caravan coming for our Southern border? With only 10 trans athletes in all of college sports that tactic seems to be stalling out. How do you convince the populace that 5$ gas and 10$ ground beef are nothing to worry about when the trans issue is something very few ever witness? Asking for some red-ass friends who are running out of ideas to motivate the dejected Fox News crowd. Might Haitians dining habits still be an angle the rubes might bite on?
I hate podcaster Pete hegseth’s hyper masculine bloodlust.
