New poll shows public’s growing approval for Trump after Gaza peace efforts

Nearly half of US voters now approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of the war between Israel and Hamas, according to a new Emerson College national survey conducted following the recent Gaza ceasefire deal.

The poll found that 47% of voters approve of Trump’s approach to the conflict, while 34% disapprove – a reversal from the same polling organization’s 100-day survey in April, when 30% approved and 46% disapproved.

According to Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball, the shift is largely driven by independent, nonaligned voters. In the new poll, independents approve of Trump’s handling of the war by a margin of 43% to 38%. In April, independents disapproved 43% to 25%. Among Republicans, 80% approve and 7% disapprove, while Democrats disapprove 57% to 19%.

Despite the improvement in Trump’s marks on Israel and Hamas, his overall job approval remains steady. The poll found his disapproval rating up one point since August, well within the margin of error.

Voters are evenly divided on the overall success of Trump’s second term in office, with 50% calling it a success and 50% calling it a failure.

The poll also found that voters continue to give Trump lower marks on his handling of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Half of voters (50%) disapprove, while 30% approve, a slight improvement since April, when approval was 27% and disapproval 52%.
