President Donald Trump on Monday declared that “peace in the Middle East” has been achieved, as he joined world leaders in Egypt to mark the end of the war between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking at the Gaza peace summit in Sharm El-Sheik, the president called the ceasefire agreement “the beginning of a new chapter for the region.”
Hostages held by Hamas have been released to the arms of their families in many tearful reunions. Many others died in captivity over the past two years.
“Together we’ve achieved what everyone said was impossible: peace in the Middle East,” Trump said in his address to more than 30 heads of state and dignitaries gathered for the historic event. “After years of suffering and bloodshed,” he said, “the war is over.”
The summit, co-hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, brought together leaders from across the region and Europe to celebrate the ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a commitment to rebuilding Gaza under international supervision.
Earlier in the day, Trump visited Israel, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and addressed the Knesset before departing for Egypt. The president’s whirlwind trip is a fulfillment of his promise to bring together a peace deal, which was finalized after months of US-led negotiations involving Egypt, Qatar, and Israel.
While world leaders praised the agreement as a breakthrough, Democrats in Congress were largely silent. Neither House nor Senate Democratic leaders issued public statements on the peace deal – a contrast to the bipartisan congratulations that often follow major international agreements. Instead, they posted messages about Indigenous People’s Day. Even an historic milestone moment in Middle East diplomacy failed to draw Democrat acknowledgment.
Trump’s remarks in Egypt capped a high-stakes diplomatic push that began shortly after his return to the White House in January. The president characterized the ceasefire as not just an end to conflict, but a turning point for regional stability and global cooperation. War broke out between Israel and Hamas after the terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, while Joe Biden was president, and war had spread throughout the region under Biden’s watch.

I’m not a MAGA fan, but I welcome the peace. If it holds, and if Trump was really key in obtaining it, then I will applaud giving him the Nobel (even though the plan that’s being implemented was largely the product of Anthony Blinken). In the end, people just become exhausted from fighting and finally confess what they really knew all along – that conflict like this gets you nowhere. Cooperation is better.
Hopefully our politicians will also soon come to the same realization. Their political wars are dividing the Nation, the division is escalating, and it’s being amplified by the media. If it ever erupts into a you-know-what, the misery that follows will endure for far too long before we all come to the same damn conclusion.
Hans,
Exactly what part of Blinkens plan came to fruition?
I think Hans handing credit to Blinken’s plan he is referring to the frozen asset funds that were released to Iran just a month prior to the October 7th attack by Hamas who is/was tied directly to Iran.
It was simply a proxy war between Iran and Israel much similar to Joe Biden’s war with Russia using his corrupt business partners in Ukraine.
As Putin clearly stated “there simply would not have been any attack on Ukraine if the war hungry Joe Biden had not been fanning the flames.
Democrats including big government Republicans make more money when there is conflict than when there is peace
Now big government leaders hate to find a replacement

I read that former President Clinton finally made a statement about this historic agreement between Muslim countries, the only Jewish country, and numerous countries with large Christian populations. The silence speaks volumes about the real reason many of these people were so vocal to begin with. The hatred these people hold is on display for all to see.
The silence from the Democrats is deafening which leads me to believe they really do prefer war over peace.
Not only does it fill their pockets with earnings from their investments in the industry that supplies the weapons and warfare materials as well as the kickbacks from all the cash handed out supporting Ukraine. Nothing but a big money sham for them.
