Feb. 20, 2026 – The mystery surrounding last year’s abrupt resignation of Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance’s elections administrator has taken a dark turn.
William D. Northrop, who stepped down without public explanation in March 2025 in the middle of the city’s mail-in municipal election, has now been indicted by an Anchorage Superior Court grand jury on five felony counts related to possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to court documents, Northrop was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography on or about Nov. 5, 2024, and one additional count on or about July 9, 2025. A judge issued a $15,000 arrest warrant on Feb. 10, but as of Friday morning he was not in custody and authorities reportedly do not know his whereabouts.
The Municipality of Anchorage has stated to reporters that the charges are unrelated to Northrop’s sudden departure.
A licensed attorney, Northrop previously worked as a public defender and judicial law clerk and was hired as Anchorage’s elections administrator in 2023.
Publicly available professional profiles show a career rooted in progressive politics and environmental advocacy: He earned a Juris Doctor and a master’s degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School between 2017 and 2020, as well as a master’s degree in political science from Southern New Hampshire University.
His prior roles included work with EARTHWORKS, an Environmental Advocacy Clinic, the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, SunCommon, anti-gun group GunSense Vermont, and the as a field director for the Vermont Democratic Party, with listed skills in politics, volunteer management, and political campaigns.

Public Defender’s Office. Interesting. Seems like a whole lot of perverts and LGBTQ gravitate to that area of law practice. The PDO needs to be investigated. Soon.
100% agree. Public Defenders usually get the scraps for clients. Other perverts, repeat offenders, jailhouse queens. The ones who can’t pay their own legal bills because they’re unemployed or have already spent their PFD’s on drugs. PD’s themselves usually get on track for their own petty crimes and get to eat dinner (and sleep) with their clients.
He had all the usual liberal boxes checked: anti-development, anti-gun… just needed to add “pervert” to complete his resume.

Somebody (an enemy) likely found out about his secret before his resignation threatening exposure.
There is a tiny bit of saddened I feel when private matters are publicly exposed to one’s downfall. Also I am Thankful to God he is answering prayers when the corruption and private lives of Alaskan leaders are being exposed.
Warning: if you are an Alaskan leader and participating in corruption, Deceit, lies, thievery, you will be exposed or demoted eventually. The fatherless. The single mother, the widows, the elders, the vulnerable mentally weak adults and children have been trampled on far too long on Alaska and it’s time God topple the corrupt bastards kingdom on Alaska and raise up new leaders who will look after the weak and vulnerable Alaskans.
Just like all men not following God, if officers don’t know his whereabouts. There is a chance we are reading about a deceased man who took his own life. Because he was living with the God of hope, grace, and love. So when he faced the biggest storm of his life, he had no hope to keep going on because he didn’t anchor his hope on the Rock that is sure and fast and won’t be moved.
