The US Department of Justice announced Friday that it will deploy election monitors to six jurisdictions ahead of the Nov. 4, election to ensure transparency, ballot security, and compliance with federal voting laws. Five are in California, one in New Jersey.
The monitoring effort, conducted through the Department’s Civil Rights Division under Harmeet Dhillon, is part of its ongoing mission to protect the rights of eligible voters and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
“Transparency at the polls translates into faith in the electoral process, and this Department of Justice is committed to upholding the highest standards of election integrity,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
Assistant Attorney General Dhillon said the department will “do everything necessary to protect the votes of eligible American citizens,” emphasizing that election monitoring and transparency are key to maintaining public trust.
Federal monitors will be present in the following jurisdictions:
- Passaic County, New Jersey
- Kern County, California
- Riverside County, California
- Fresno County, California
- Orange County, California
- Los Angeles County, California
Personnel will oversee compliance with key federal statutes, including the Voting Rights Act, National Voter Registration Act, and Help America Vote Act.
According to the Attorney General Pam Bondi, the goal of the operation is to promote transparency and open communication between poll observers and election monitors to ensure elections proceed smoothly and lawfully.
