David Ignell: Mainstream media caught in the act making Alex Pretti a martyr

By DAVID IGNELL

My article last week focused on Alex Pretti’s conduct a few minutes before his death – how his defiant look captured on video did not comport to the image being crafted by the Mainstream Media aka the “Pusher.”

David Ignell: Mainstream media is a drug pusher now

The day after Pretti’s death, The Washington Post quoted three sources calling him “a kindhearted soul”, “a very calm, collected person and always had a good demeanor”, and “the sweetest, kindest, gentlest soul you ever met”.

Pretti was a member of a nurses’ union, and the Post was quick to quote this statement from an affiliated union: “The murder of our union brother Alex Pretti is an unconscionable act of violence, and a betrayal of the values federal workers are sworn to uphold.”

After writing my article, new evidence of Pretti began to circulate on Twitter/X, including a video taken of Pretti 11 days before his death.

The video opens with the familiar chaotic sound of horns honking and loud whistles being blown to alert “activists” at the intersection of 36th and Park where ICE agents are.  Almost 17 minutes into the video of this “peaceful protest”, Pretti runs in from the west, steps in front of about a dozen people gathered on the NW corner and immediately starts screaming profanities at the federal agents trying to enforce our nation’s immigration laws:

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?  F**K YOU!  GET THE F**K OUT OF HERE!  F**K YOU!  F**K YOU!  WHAT THE F**K IS WRONG WITH YOU!  EVERY DAY IN YOUR [unintelligible] F**KING, YOU PEPPER SPRAY B*TCH!”

An ICE agent turns around and approaches Pretti who then leans forward and screams in the agent’s face, “F**KING ASSAULT ME MOTHERF**KER! I’LL GIVE YOU [unintelligible].

What does the ICE agent do in the face of this completely unhinged, verbally abusive “peaceful protester”?  He turns around and walks away and enters a Suburban on the scene.

The ICE agent’s act of de-escalation seems to inflame Pretti more.  He screams “F**K YOU GUYS!  F**KING TRASH! F**KING TRASH!”

Pretti then approaches the door of the Suburban, leans forward, and hocks a big loogie towards the closing door.  Then one more “F**KING TRASH!  As the Suburban pulls away, he kicks the Suburban.  THUNK! can be heard on the video.

Apparently not satisfied hearing the sound of his boot against metal, Pretti winds up again, aims higher and this time kicks out the taillight of the vehicle sending it flying.

The Suburban stops, agents get out and Pretti starts backing up with two more “F**K YOU!  F**K YOU! while raising both middle fingers towards them.

The agents apprehend Petti who tries to grab a light post.  An ICE agent literally picks him up and takes him to the ground where Pretti is subdued by a group of agents.

So much for the Pusher’s narrative that Pretti was “the sweetest, kindest, gentlest person” that any ICE agent would ever meet.

So much for the union’s statement that Pretti was living by the values federal workers are sworn to uphold.  The propaganda and brainwashing are off the charts.

Every American who values peace should watch the entire 20-minute video to get a better understanding of the insurgency that the Pusher, along with Marxists, anarchists, politicians, liberal judges, and even sanctuary churches are promoting.  It’s happening in multiple places every day and it’s sickening.

Unfortunately, Pretti was not arrested that day.  According to Andrew Branca, an attorney and use of force law expert who appeared last Thursday on the Laura Ingraham show, Pretti’s actions that day crossed the line, and he should have been arrested.  Had Pretti been arrested and his right to carry arms suspended, isn’t it more likely he’d be alive today?

Maybe Democrat legislators should immediately approve a larger Congressional budget so that ICE can build larger facilities to help save unpeaceful protestors from themselves.  Did Pretti’s non-arrest only embolden him more on the day he died?

The Pusher’s hypocrisy was exposed by President Trump on Truth Social on the 29th.  He posted a clip of the newfound Petti video with a superimposed Senator Elizabeth Warren waxing “he was incapable of causing harm.  Alex carried patience, compassion and calm…. I recognized his familiar stillness and signature calm composure.”

It would be hilarious if it weren’t for the fact that Pretti is dead because of the rhetoric from politicians like Warren.

On the evening of the Jan. 29, Fox’s Special Report with Brett Baier showed a portion of the new Pretti video, questioned whether Pretti was involved in the far left Signal chats that mobilized protestors at the scene where he was shot, and noted that these highly organized far left organizers were the ones that put Pretti in danger, turning him into a martyr.

Thank God Americans still have one major network with journalistic integrity.

So how was this newfound evidence of Pretti reported by the Pusher?

Crickets.

At least by The Washington Post in two of their digital newsletters, The 7, and The Post Most.  The Post touts The 7 as “we’ll help you start your day with the news you really need to know” and The Post Most as, “the most popular and interesting stories of the day, from politics to opinions to world news, curated by our newsletter editors to keep you in the know.”

To help put the Post’s deceptive silence in context, consider that both newsletters are dominated by Minneapolis ICE articles, nearly everyone negative towards ICE.  In the 2 days following Pretti’s death, The 7 and The Most each ran 10 articles relating to various aspects of the Pretti shooting.  Those articles in turn had links to even more articles.

The Pusher leaves no stone unturned, except when it comes to the truth.

In a now predictable pattern, both The 7 and The Most were also silent on another important recent development in the Minneapolis “protests.”. As mentioned in my last article, on Jan. 26, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the district court injunction against ICE agents.  The judges specifically commented that much of the protests in Minneapolis are not peaceful.

On Saturday, Jan. 17, The Post had covered the lower court’s injunction, running a story under the headline: “Minneapolis judge bars DHS agents from arresting peaceful protestors”.  (The Post doesn’t publish The 7 on weekends).

Any media outlet with true journalistic integrity would have given the follow-up story at least equal and likely greater coverage to inform the American public what the judges said.  It’s an important viewpoint that could help keep its customers out of jail.

But the Pusher won’t publish the truth when it hurts his objective.  The Pusher doesn’t care about its customers, only its agenda.

The questions that more Americans need to ask, especially those in Minneapolis who are most vulnerable to the Pusher’s deception, is this:   What motivates the Post to omit coverage of these developments and deceive the American public?  If it’s not the truth they’re after, then what is their objective?

Consider two Marxist goals set forth in The Naked Communist, the 1959 book by former FBI agent W. Cleon Skousen.

No. 20: “Infiltrate the press.  Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.”

No. 42: “Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use “united force” to solve economic, political or social problems.”

Isn’t this exactly what the Post is trying to do?  Legitimizing violence under the banner “peaceful protests”?

The Pretti story offers insight into another Marxist goal outlined by Skousen:

No. 21: “Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures.”

On the cable news channel MS NOW, formerly known as MSNBC, the producers ran AI-enhanced pictures of Pretti. Talk show host Joe Rogan picked up on this and spent a few minutes dissecting Pretti’s “makeover” by the Pusher Man.

Rogan speculated that by making Pretti more handsome, the Pusher could generate more sympathy from the American public.  Rogan commented on how CNN did the opposite to him during the Covid area when they made him green to look like he was dying.

Rogan nailed it.  He detailed several improvements the Pusher made to Pretti’s looks.  They shortened and widened his face, made him more tan, gave him a more handsome jaw, shrunk his nose, pumped up his shoulders, made him a bit plumper, and changed his teeth.

This is the essence of “Fake News.”

There’s still so much more to write on this topic, but it will have to wait until next time, God willing.

One final thought.  What did The Post write on Jan. 7, 2021?

Spoiler alert – it provides additional evidence of the political bias, hypocrisy and unreliability of the Pusher.

First the Pusher’s descriptive words took on a different tone.  A “crowd” became a “mob”.  “protestors” became “rioters”.  “peaceful” became “chaotic scene”.

But more importantly, compare the Pusher’s current portrayal of Pretti who was armed, with Ashli Babbitt who was not armed.  As she climbed through a window in a barricaded door, Babbitt was shot and killed by a US Capitol officer.  The Post went to great lengths to try to make readers unsympathetic towards Babbitt – like she got what she deserved:

“In one video posted to Twitter, Babbitt rants loudly about liberal politicians and what she viewed as the negative impact of immigration on the US economy.  In another tweet, she called for Vice President Pence to resign and to be prosecuted for treason, presumably for not being supportive enough of Trump’s calls to overturn the election. “

Unlike Babbitt, the Pusher is trying desperately to impart hero/martyr status on Pretti.  The facts don’t lie though.

Instead, the Pusher feeds the American public crickets on the truth, deception in spades.

“I said God d**n, God, God d**n the pusher man.”

  1. Funny how the fact that Alex was carrying a Sig Sauer P320 9mm with two loaded magazines has almost completely disappeared from the language. I support the Second Amendment but the idea that a person would carry a loaded premium-quality handgun into a situation where the complete intention is to confront law enforcement strikes me as a bad idea. A really bad idea. But I may be not up with progressive thinking.

  2. I think the US Government shooting a US citizen in the head while he’s on the ground in the street execution style is bad, actually.

  3. Who cares about the death of a violent, marxist revolutionary who in his thinking died a gloriously.

He would have celebrated the death of you and this country without a second thought.

    1. Sure Micah. He was an ICU nurse serving veterans for gawd’s sake. He was understandably pissed at Trump’s thugs and while there’s quite a bit of potty mouth, he did nothing to warrant his murder. You have a dangerous and easily dismissed knack for ignoring facts and evidence.

      1. Pot meet Kettle, Evan.
It does not matter what he did professionally or that he was angry. As a gun owner he had a responsibility to avoid confrontations. Did you know that Minnesota has a duty to retreat law?
So he chose to go to a specific area to confront law enforcement, while carrying a loaded weapon. That Evan is intent. You have the choices to protest peacefully without interfering, petition your representative to change the law or go to court. Fighting it out in the street is idiotic, unproductive and dangerous.

      2. Since you brought up the notion of ignoring facts, please address the presence of the Sig Sauer P320 and the two loaded magazines. Be specific. Do you think those facts are significant and relevant? Do you think the loaded handgun is likely to part of the evidentiary record?

  4. How about the fact that ICE has pulled 700 officers out of Minnesota? Does anyone know why they were pulled out? It’s because the Trump Administration talked the Governor of Minnesota and the Mayor of Minneapolis off the ledge they found themselves on, now Minnesota and Minneapolis are following the law and turning over criminal illegal aliens instead of setting them loose on the streets and having their useful idiots with their whistles and savior complexes trying to “protect” illegal alien child molesters, rapists, human traffickers, and other such “peaceful” activities.

  5. Way too much ephasis placed on the fact that Pretti carried a handgun and spare mags. Any CCW training worth anything teaches to carry at least one spare. There would be no problem with that if he were standing on the sidelines with a sign, or even a bullhorn. As David pointed out, his actions were the problem. He went there with the specific intention of starting a fight with federal agents. That is exactly what got this sadly misguided guy killed. Lefties are saying that it was his right to physically obstruct and attack federal agents. When the left is again in office, and they send out their federal goons to harrass people, (as they always do), will they still feel the same?
