Congressman Nick Begich has passed his eight, ninth, and tenth bills out of the US House, and all this during his first year in Congress, marking a legislative milestone as the three Alaska-focused measures cleared the chamber this week. He has had one bill pass every 35 days in his first year in Congress.
On Dec. 16, the House approved three bills sponsored by Begich: H.R. 2815, the Cape Fox Land Entitlement Finalization Act of 2025; H.R. 3176, which reauthorizes the National Volcano Early Warning and Monitoring System; and H.R. 3620, the Southcentral Foundation Land Transfer Act of 2025. All three now advance to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
“I’m proud to see the House move forward with these important pieces of legislation for Alaska and our communities,” Begich said in a statement. He said the bills address long-standing commitments, strengthen infrastructure and aviation safety, and support health and mental health services.
H.R. 3176 reauthorizes the National Volcano Early Warning and Monitoring System, which tracks the nation’s most hazardous volcanoes. Alaska contains more than half of the active volcanoes in the United States, making monitoring critical for public safety, infrastructure protection, and uninterrupted air travel.
H.R. 2815, as amended, conveys approximately 180 acres of federal land to the Cape Fox Corporation, resolving outstanding land entitlements under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The legislation is intended to streamline land management and support economic development in Southeast Alaska, including expanded power production capacity.
H.R. 3620 transfers roughly 3.4 acres of federal land and the Quyana Clubhouse facility in Anchorage to Southcentral Foundation. The transfer allows the organization to upgrade the facility and expand mental health, health care, and social services to meet growing community needs at a time when mental health has reached crisis levels in Anchorage.

NB3 is doing a fantastic job, great representation for Alaska and Alaskans!
We are definitely getting our monies worth from him, rather than Lisa!
She is a complete and udder disappointment, Frank should’ve pulled out!
She has proven to be nothing more than a complete “Air-Thief” … !!!
With the exception of the volcano monitoring bill, to my knowledge, ALL of the remaining items of the ten are special interest legislation. I may be in the minority, but I am not impressed. OTOH, maybe it is acceptable that he isn’t trying to do harm.
