Alaska senior US Sen. Lisa Muirkowski put on her chest waders and waded into the burgeoning argument over the future of Greenland by joining with three other congress critters on a resolution reaffirming US partnership with Denmark and Greenland.
She even visited Denmark with a congressional delegation over the weekend and had a grand time feeding her Orange Man Bad Jones.
What is going on here? Has Trump gone completely nuts? Not hardly.
As it turns out, there is a pretty good strategic reason for Trump to pursue a different relationship with Greenland. And that reason starts and ends with China, who is now calling itself an Arctic nation, something which ought to interest our senior US senator.
Greenland came to Trump’s attention in 2017 when the Greenland Prime Minister visited Beijing, hat in hand, asking for free money to build airports. China, always interested in improving its strategic position and poking the American eagle, happily received the visit. To its credit, Denmark managed to stop the initiative before anything dangerous (like a Belt and Road port agreement) was signed.
As recently as last year, Denmark’s intelligence service warned both Denmark and the US about China and Russia’s military goals for Greenland and the Arctic. Trump doesn’t want another Cuba next to it, a perfectly reasonable desire. China’s interest in the Arctic is for now stymied on the Pacific side by Japan, Russia, the US and Canada, though they are working on “solving” the Canadian problem. Greenland and Denmark present an opportunity in the Atlantic Arctic they are now pursuing.
US interest in acquiring Greenland goes back at least as far as Secretary William Seward who purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867 under President Andrew Johnson. At the same time, he was pursuing purchases of the Virgin Islands and Greenland from Denmark. Those two purchases did not take place.
The next interest was under President Taft and Wilson in response to WWI tensions. The US did purchase the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917 which was neutral during that war. Things did not work out so well for Denmark in WWII as it was quickly invaded by Germany and subdued. Happily, there was nothing in Greenland but ice at the time, so no German interest in that war. Following the war and the start of the Cold War, President Truman reached a mutual defense pact with Denmark in 1951 allowing the US to base US military in Greenland and provide for its defense. No Greenland purchase was approved.
We have had four other US presidents interested in acquiring some sort of Greenland control over the last 160 years: Johnson, Taft, Wilson and Truman, all for strategic reasons in the interest of the US. President Trump is the fifth. Are they all wrong? Are any of them?
Today, the strategic situation changed once again, and the US is pursuing a Greenland purchase, as the 1951 agreement is no longer sufficient for our current national defense. Yet all we get out of Lisa, and the democrats are same old, same old Orange Man Bad.
It is ironic that a woman who represents a state built on land purchased from Russia is now preening before the cameras standing in solidarity with the pitiful Danes and the European Union, all in feigned defense of NATO. Cue the crocodile tears of sadness.
She ought to be more interested in improving the strategic position of the US than scoring a few political points. But she isn’t. Maybe she doesn’t even know. She demonstrably doesn’t seem to care.
What a worthless woman. What a worthless US Senator. What an embarrassment to Alaska. She can’t be gone soon enough.

Well now,we know who is. Buttering her bread
My guess is she couldn’t find Greenland on a map. She is just a camera preening dIMOCRAP in a Republican designer shawl. You notice when she’s pictured talking about Trump she scowls like she just had a root canal. When she’s pictured with one of her dIMOCRAP idiot friends (Kamala, Pelotola or Jobiden) she has a big smile on her schmuck. What a loser!
Thank you, I think, for using the MFugliest Princess picture available. A solid reminder of what she is like, deep down in that soulless well of iniquity. And, in answer to today’s Poll Question: “Should Lisa Murkowski be in Denmark defending Greenland or stay in her lane?”
A. Denmark
B. Stay in lane
C. Stay in Denmark (I prefer this option, tho it was not offered)
She is trying to avoid a divisive clash with NATO. Sullivan is quiet in his corner and the Third never looks at national news. Good for Murkowski.
By NATO, you must mean that parasitic group that sucks the blood of American taxpayers in every manner possible? USA is the highest dollar contributor to NATO. US taxpayers get abused as usual.
Orange Man is bad, and soon you may have to send your children or grandchildren to war in order to defend his outrageous actions.
The MAGA crowd has Trump derangement syndrome worse than anyone. Their minds and integrity have been totally hijacked by this despot.
Nancy and I remember the time when Lisa tried to dye her hair blonde. It ended up orange. But it did match the color of her nose. And from that time on, we always called her our little, Marmalaide.
She was always a brown-noser until Frankie changed his diet.
