Alaska Young Republicans to hold first-ever state convention in Anchorage

The Alaska Young Republicans will hold their inaugural state convention on Jan. 10 at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center, as the organization seeks to expand its role within Alaska’s Republican Party.

The event will feature a lineup of speakers that includes live video remarks from Congressman Nick Begich III, Sen. Dan Sullivan, multiple Republican candidates for governor, Young Republican elected officials, resource industry experts, and party leaders from across the state.

Sen. Sullivan, R-Alaska, is scheduled to deliver keynote remarks. He said the convention conveys the importance of cultivating future conservative leadership.

“Alaska’s future depends on leaders who are willing to serve with principle and conviction,” Sullivan said. “I’m proud to support the Alaska Young Republicans and look forward to delivering keynote remarks as they work to build the next generation of leaders for our state.”

Remarks will also be delivered by Alaska Young Republicans Chair Jarret Freeman and Alaska Republican Party Chair Carmela Warfield.

“The Alaska Young Republicans are the official youth affiliate of the Alaska Republican Party and play a vital role in the future of our party,” Warfield said. “I am proud to support them and their growing movement to strengthen their organization and expand their work to help elect conservative leaders across our great state.”

Freeman described the convention as a turning point for the organization.

“This convention represents the beginning of a new chapter for the Alaska Young Republicans,” Freeman said. “We are committed to doing the work required to elect strong leaders at every level of government — from federal offices to municipal seats in communities across the state.”

The convention will give attendees opportunities to meet candidates and elected officials from local, legislative, and statewide offices. Additional speakers, panelists, and sponsors are expected to be announced in the coming days. There is no age requirement to take part in the Young Republicans convention.

  1. I am thankful the younger generation of conservatives have the ability to weed out the “true democrats” and not invite Princess Murkowski and hopefully she will not weasel her way through the back door to “crash” the party.
