April 13, 2026 – Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell announced Monday that he will resign from Congress following multiple sexual misconduct allegations that have triggered bipartisan calls for him to step down, marking a rapid unraveling for the seven-term lawmaker.
The decision comes after reports first published by the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN outlined allegations from several women. One woman accused Swalwell of sexual assault on two occasions, including during a period when she worked for him. Three additional women alleged various forms of misconduct, including claims that he sent unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos. Swalwell has denied the assault allegations.
The controversy also derailed what had been shaping up to be a competitive run for governor of California. Swalwell had been considered an early contender but suspended his campaign just one day before the House Ethics Committee confirmed it had opened an investigation into whether he engaged in misconduct with a staff member.
In a statement posted to social media, Swalwell acknowledged what he described as “mistakes in judgment,” while continuing to push back on the most serious claims.
“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” he said. “I will fight the serious false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”
He continued: “But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress.”
The House Ethics Committee’s announcement intensified pressure from both parties, with several Democrats joining Republicans in calling for his resignation. Swalwell said he had been made aware of efforts to force an immediate expulsion vote in the House, arguing that such a move would lack due process.
Swalwell’s resignation brings an abrupt end to his tenure in Washington and injects uncertainty into California’s political landscape, where his exit opens both a congressional seat and further reshapes the already fluid race for governor.
Swalwell has also had connections to Alaska’s political scene through his time in Congress, including a visit to Juneau where he was photographed fishing with former Alaska Congresswoman Mary Peltola during a fundraising trip. There is no indication those interactions are related to the allegations, but the images underscore his broader political network.
The Ethics Committee investigation is expected to continue even as Swalwell prepares to leave office, focusing on whether House rules or federal law were violated during his time in Congress.

Even the way the dems beat their gang members out is disgusting.
Gotta make sure a dems consolidate for the open governor jungle primary. Can’t have the r’s finish in the top two spots. Thats no way to run a one party state.
Guilty. I bet Nancy Pelosi threatened to really get down and nasty to him. She wants her nephew Gavin Newsome to be the only real star from Cali. Such an evil old woman.
Bible lesson that all leaders check themselves by comes from 1 Timothy 3:1-13
“ Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
In the same way, the women(women leaders) are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.”
Just because it says men doesn’t mean women leaders are excluded from the standard. Leaders need guard their hearts and measure themselves how they, their spouse, and children whether or not their children are youth or adult, are doing. If you can’t give your family matters attention then how can a leader give the attention to a state or workplace. Because Alaskans know so well what happens when we elect leaders with messed up lives what mess of Alaska to which majority of Alaska’s community leaders and industry leaders fail this test.
It’s specifically speaking instructions to the Church about leading. Its wisdom and instruction how to govern well
Seven terms. It was time for him to go. Probably sooner he should had gone. Because he took too long. His deceived heart got the better of him and he is forced out and disgraced.
See I told you before. That not all leaders can handle multiple terms. Some can only handle one-three terms before they need to bow out. But that Doesnt mean I’m for term limits because there are leaders they are just getting their game on at their seventh term or their fourth term and they dont start fizzling out until ten terms before the power and control inflates their head with conceit, deception, and corruption.
Please run a story about how Trump is insulting and belittling Pope Leo. One would think that given the strong religious orientation of this website, it would denounce his statements with alacrity.
Thank you.
Dang I miss Rush. He would be having a hay day with all this . Fang- Fang and who knows what all. Just shows to go you how gullible we all can be. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Good bye and good riddance.
So, if Swalwell resigns, who’s No-Show Peltola going to get to help her with the fundraisers?
Alex Soros always stands ready to help support any weak-willed globalist puppet.
