New polls show broad public support for ICE’s immigration enforcement

Two recently released national surveys suggest a significant portion of Americans align with key themes in President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, especially regarding border enforcement and deportations, even as enforcement actions in deep blue cities such as Minneapolis remain polarizing and are defining the narrative in news coverage.

According to a new poll circulated by Cygnal, a large majority of US adults agree that entering the country without authorization “breaks the law,” with 73 % endorsing that view. The same survey finds 61% support deporting individuals in the country without lawful status to their home countries, and 54% say the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency should enforce immigration laws.

The survey also reported that 58% reject calls from Democratic lawmakers and activists to “defund ICE,” a stance that has been amplified in certain progressive circles.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted to defund ICE, putting her squarely in line with hardline Democrats. On Jan. 30, during Senate consideration of government funding legislation, Murkowski joined Sen.Susan Collins and all Democrats in supporting an amendment introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to rescind/ repeal approximately $75 billion in additional funding that had been allocated to ICE under prior legislation. The vote failed narrowly.

A second recent survey, by Harvard/Harris, shows that public backing extends to urging cooperation between federal immigration authorities and local law enforcement:

  • 73 % say criminal illegal aliens should be deported, with more than half extending that to include all individuals without lawful status.

  • 67 % want state and local officials to work with federal authorities on identifying and deporting criminal illegal aliens, including 64 % of independents.

  • 67 % believe local jails ought to transfer detained criminal illegal aliens to federal custody for deportation, with majority support from independents and even half of Democratic respondents.

  • 60 % say Democrats are encouraging resistance to ICE officers simply doing their jobs, while 57 % oppose elected officials who urge resistance to enforcement actions.

  1. Most Americans especially our immigrants who are here LEGALLY. Have always supporter of ICE. It’s just Democrat and its media would say otherwise.
Do you know how much US immigration Forms cost? Thousands of dollars. IF the immigration officer finds one error? Guess what scrap it and make the poor applicant file a new one. Guess what pay the application fee all over again. So most immigrants like gong through an immigration attorney make sure their forms are all correct.

During the Biden Years all the US immigrants here on good standing got resentful to seeing immigrants were here Illegally and getting a free pass to immigration while they were paying to keep their papers up to date and active. Immigrates here are either staying with family members or they are working two or three jobs so they have money for immigration papers and living expenses.
Americans don’t recognize how difficult it is to be an American and how expensive it is to keep paperwork up to date. That’s why when Immigrants finally make it through US Citizenship ceremony they are Crying. It’s very emotional event and they are so happy. Guess what no more having to fill out forms and paying the paper fees.

  2. It is increasingly obvious that the Left intentionally threw open the borders to a flood of millions and millions of unvetted, unskilled, impoverished people to destabilize the United States for political reasons. It was an evil act for which they refuse to take responsibility.

  3. To anyone who is actually paying attention, it’s obvious that the overwhelming majority of American citizens are in favor of deporting ALL illegal aliens. The rioting and chaos in blue cities, especially Minneapolis, is absolutely NOT organic or “grassroots”. That rioting is well organized and well funded by outsiders, this has been clearly proven, and the effect has been compounded by the fact that U.S. immigration laws and citizenship requirements have, for all practical purposes, been declared Nul and Void by dirty politicians like “Tampon” Tim Walz and JB “Tubby” Pritzker.

  4. In related news, last year the New York Times reported that voters across the nation were fleeing the Democrat Party. Between the 2020 and 2024 elections, in the 30 states that track such data, Democrats lost around 2,100,000 voters while Republicans gained around 2,400,000 voters. If those numbers hold true for the remaining 20 states that means roughly 3,000,000 former Democrats are no longer registered as Democrats and roughly 4,000,000 people registered as newly minted Republicans. Democrats have also been suffering record low approval and favorability ratings. It has been so bad for Democrats that the postmortem study they did about what they’ve been doing wrong was hidden since the results were hard for them to justify their continued lurch to the extreme left in their party.

  5. I saw reports and video of anti-ice protestors setting up road blocks into “Little Mogadishu” stopping and asking drivers for their name, while also “running” their plate numbers in some sort of data base.
These are NOT law enforcement officers. They have no legal authority. They are hooligans usurping powers to terrorize and impede, who disguise their faces with masks, which apparently is okay for them, but not for federal officers. This is what anarchy looks like!
I hope they all get arrested, charged and send to prison but it is Minneapolis…….

  6. The vast majority of selective ICE “abuses” videos, and inflamatory rhetoric from political leaders egging on public confrontations and demonstrations are a deliberately contrived sstrategy to generate fabricated outrage to deflect attention from the multi billion dollar fraud perpupetrated through promotion or incompetence by the Governor and Mayor of Minnesota and Miniapolis respectively. It is a shame that so many within that state and elsewhere are not able to see how they are being used. ICE has successfully conducted significantly higher numbers of apprehensions in other states with little or no drama.

  7. I’m 100% for DHS and ICE working the mission to remove the illegal migrants and the illegal visa holders over staying their visa return time. The criminal illegals here that are protected with safe houses and persons of prejudice against removal set themselves up in scenarios due to anyone or someone staging mayhem. The end result is felonies for life on those arrested or like the two domestic terrorists dead. Stupid people do stupid things. Don’t be martyr for a cause for criminals. The illegals know their purpose of running and invading. The marches here in Alaska brings home to a person’s thinking that their are illegals here that fit those warrants and use whoever they can criminalize their neighbor without regret and will continue to harm every person in their sphere. The businesses that hire these people and pay them under the table help the criminal activity in every community. Illegals are spread throughout Alaska and they are creating that domestic terrorist attitude by empathy and need hoping some sicker will pick up the “oh poor me” banner and march for the heinous crimes these illegals have been convicted of or think they will bring down our law enforcement to the gutter level of their sick thinking. Anchorage is a sanctuary city and that mayhem is here. To ICE I say: Please come into the city and remove any illegal you have record of and make our place of living safer. Find the safe houses, and work sites and remove them. All of Alaska should be glad this removal process is happening and help any way that is needed. Law Enforcement that has been put in a hard place because of Mayor LaFrance, remember your oath to the US Constitution, State Constitution and the United States Military Code Of Justice. Sec. Kristi Noem and those working this mission need rewards for their work they are doing. I want the mission to continue because we in Alaska will be safer and healthier in many ways.
