The Alaska Democratic Party will hold its annual “Holiday Auction” on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6 pm at the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage. This year’s theme is “A Starry Night,” and organizers say speakers and auction items will be announced in the days ahead, but one day before the event, there has been no announcement of a speaker.
The event is a key fundraiser for the party, with proceeds supporting Democratic campaign activity for 2026, including candidate training, digital outreach, mail programs, and other election efforts.
While the Democrats are keeping their program under wraps for now, the gathering is shaping up to be noticeably smaller than the high-profile Republican Party Winter Gala at the Sheraton in November, a sold-out event that drew more than 500 attendees and featured Sen. Dan Sullivan, Sen. John Kennedy, Gov. Mike Dunleavy, and Congressman Nick Begich.
The Alaska Native Heritage Center can hold up to 200 people, thus it will be less well attended, which stands to reason since only 72,000 Alaskans are registered Democrats, less than half of those Alaskans who are registered as Republicans.
Rep. Mary Peltola is widely expected to appear. With growing speculation about her political future, observers will be watching closely to see whether she uses the event to signal anything about a potential run for governor in 2026.

A Starry Night is an appropriate theme. For them their Ak future is full of wonder and possibilities if AkDemocrats do get the Governors office plus the same legislature they have enjoyed the last 12 years in Jan 2027, then the stars will be in alignment for their priorities, greed, goals. and aspirations
