Six Democrat lawmakers now get to talk to the FBI about encouraging troop mutiny

Democrat lawmakers who appeared in a social-media video urging US troops to defy orders say the FBI has contacted them to begin scheduling interviews, signaling an inquiry into the matter.

It would be the second investigation linked to the video, following a Pentagon statement on Monday confirming that Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona is under review for potential violations of military law, since he is a veteran.

The FBI and Pentagon interest comes after President Donald Trump accused the lawmakers of sedition.

In the widely circulated video, the six Democrat members of Congress, all with prior military or intelligence service, tell troops they are duty-bound to reject unlawful orders.

While military law already requires service members to do so, the video implies that individual troops can personally determine legality, potentially inviting confusion and mutiny within the ranks.

Four Democratic House members said Tuesday that the FBI reached out to the House and Senate Sergeants at Arms to request interviews. They said Trump is “using the FBI as a tool to intimidate and harass Members of Congress.”

View the video in this X post and decide for yourself if these members of Congress have committed sedition:

Sen. Lisa Murkowski believes they are innocent. She wrote, “Senator [Mark] Kelly valiantly served our country as an aviator in the U.S. Navy before later completing four space shuttle missions as a NASA astronaut. To accuse him and other lawmakers of treason and sedition for rightfully pointing out that servicemembers can refuse illegal orders is reckless and flat-out wrong. The Department of Defense and FBI surely have more important priorities than this frivolous investigation.”

Murkowski was either ignorant of or disregarding United States Code and Uniform Code of Military Justice intentionally to protect her political allies.

18 USC § 2387 is a federal law that explicitly prohibits activities designed to cause insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty within the US armed forces. This includes distributing written material that advises, counsels, or urges such actions, with penalties including fines, imprisonment for up to 10 years, and a 5-year ban on federal employment. The law covers various military branches, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, and applies to both military members and civilians.
Sen. Mark Kelly could be investigated under Article 94 of the UCMJ because a retired officer using his former rank and credibility to infer that troops should make snap decisions about whether to defy future orders from the Commander in Chief may violate the law.

  1. Democrats need to do something. Torching the cities in a mostly peaceful protest is kind of run its course of being misreported. Now that the money is being followed. The organization and funding is slowed somewhat. Not as much of that USAID dollars doing the circle back.

  2. None of those featured in the video have commented on what laws they think these troops should question. While they can gather the temerity to make a video suggesting others take action on their advice about behavior that they refuse to name, they don’t even have the backbone to stand behind their words.

  3. The lawmakers reiterated a truth found prominently at WestPoint. Only weakTrump and hegseth and Patel and MAGA cultists would weaponize the administration against them. And Trump called for their execution! Wrap your head around that.
