Oct. 12, 2026 — Three Wasilla roads will close for much of Tuesday, and motorists traveling between Anchorage and Wasilla should prepare for delays ahead of President Donald Trump’s Oct. 13 event.
The Wasilla Police Department and Alaska State Troopers announced Monday that Clapp Street, Beacon Street, and Aviation Avenue will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm.
Officials emphasized that there will be no pedestrian access to the Curtis Menard Center or along the closed roads. Registered attendees should follow the parking and transportation instructions sent to them by email.
Motorists should anticipate possible delays of up to 30 minutes along the Glenn and Parks highways between Anchorage and Wasilla throughout the day.
Temporary flight restrictions will also be in effect in Anchorage and the greater Wasilla area, covering drones and other aircraft.
Police and troopers said the public should expect an increased law enforcement presence throughout the Mat-Su Valley and follow officers’ directions.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and successful event,” the agencies said in the announcement.
