Sept. 20, 2026 – Wasilla residents will choose a mayor and fill two City Council seats in the Oct. 6 municipal election. Early voting begins Monday, Sept. 21, giving voters two weeks to cast a ballot before Election Day.
Three candidates are on the ballot for mayor: Stuart R. “Stu” Graham, Alina Rubeo and David S. Wilson. Bruce Webb is the only listed candidate for Council Seat C. Ian Crafton and David Seals are running for Council Seat D. All three offices carry three-year terms ending in October 2029. Voters can read the candidates’ submitted statements in the city’s Meet the Candidates guide and review the sample ballot.
Under Wasilla’s election rules, a candidate must receive more than 40% of the vote to avoid a runoff. If none does, the two candidates with the most votes will advance to a runoff, which is anticipated for Nov. 10, according to the city’s election page.
Early voting runs from Sept. 21 through Monday, Oct. 5, in the Council Chambers at Wasilla City Hall, 290 E. Herning Avenue. Hours are 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays. The city lists no Sunday hours. Early voting details are posted here.
Voters who want an absentee ballot by mail must submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 pm Alaska time Tuesday, Sept. 29. An application is required each year. A completed ballot returned by mail must be postmarked by Oct. 6 and received by the city no later than Oct. 9. Voters may instead place the ballot envelope in the secure drop box at City Hall by 8 pm on Election Day or deliver it to a city polling place while polls are open. The city provides the application and return instructions online.
Election Day polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm Wasilla’s two polling locations are City Hall, 290 E. Herning Avenue, for Precinct 27-420, and the Menard Sports Center, 1001 S. Clapp Street, for Precinct 27-425. Voters should check their assigned precinct before heading out; the city’s polling-place page explains how to look it up.
The deadline to register or update a registration for this city election was Sept. 6. Voters casting a ballot at the polls will be asked for identification; the city lists examples and explains the process on its Election Day voting page.
