A new Rasmussen Reports survey shows that most American voters support President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops to defend Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities across the country, despite a federal judge ruling that blocked the move.
According to the national telephone and online poll, 52% of likely U.S. voters support using the National Guard to protect ICE offices, including 39% who strongly support the president’s policy. Forty-three percent are opposed, with 33% strongly opposed.
The survey also found that a majority of voters believe federal judges have been engaging in what many describe as a “legal insurrection,” reflecting growing frustration over judicial interventions that limit executive authority on border and immigration issues.
Last week, a federal judge ruled that President Trump could not deploy National Guard troops to federal ICE facilities, arguing that such action exceeded presidential powers without congressional authorization. The decision has reignited debate over the role of the courts in shaping immigration and security policy.
The Rasmussen poll suggests public sentiment leans toward the president’s approach, with most voters expressing concern about threats, violence, and anarchy at ICE facilities in recent months.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the survey among likely US voters using a combination of telephone and online interviews. Full question wording and methodology are available on the Rasmussen Reports website.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 51% of likely US voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight (48%) disapprove.
The latest figures include 34% who strongly approve of the job Trump is doing and 41% who strongly disapprove.
